| At the moment I have to search very time-consuming for the remarks when distributing
new parts, which are already in my invetory. Currently I always have to jump
into the inventory and take over the remark.
My suggestion would be to transfer the existing remarks already into the corresponding
fields. This function can also be optional (only if I want to transfer the old
remarks).
I would be very happy about this function.
Thanks and greetings

I don't think it would be dramatic to increaase this number.

Maybe a stupid question, but why is the order details on the site the weight
of all items (so Lot weight x items ordered) and if you download it, the weight
of 1 unique lot.
Second, is it possible to have the total estimated weight per order on the Download,
like it's shown online in the order?
This because I like to see/calculate the average price/kg and the average price/piece
for my orders.

great to have an ability to sort a Wanted list on "Difference" which is what
I want minus what I have. Then I can see what is missing and try to borrow the

The system must have this, otherwise the Buy All feature would not work correctly.
So please can it be an option in the Display pull-down box?

| When a buyer contacts me, using the contact form on BL, I get an email from BL
with the message. However, replying to that email just results in a bounced email.
I am forced to go into BL message center and copy/paste my text. Even worse when
I need to reply with an attachment (like a photo of a brick): not an option.
This all ends up in two // streams of communication: some messages are sent using
BL, others over direct email.
I'm forced to use a communication medium (BL) that is not adequate. Until
it's adequate, I would suggest to remove the "Messaging" feature all together.
Until BL can offer a mature messaging feature that makes direct email obsolete,
I would suggest to remove the Message feature (and point the users to direct
email contact). Now it's just a very confusing and annoying mix of communication
channels.

Other fields auto-fill (6 months average-sales of the option to use old remarks,
etc., even old/new average "my cost").
When I am part-setting I like to keep count of the average part-cost. When part-setting
bigger sets I will have to fill these out (copy/paste) 300-400 times, depending
on the lot-count. Absolutely killing my motivation. If I can choose one number
on the first part-out screen, it can be filled-out in the overview. Some lots
I change (baseplates/minifigs/stickersheet are not 6-7 eurocents "cost", but
| 90% of the lots gets the same number.

I can;t imagine no one has had the idea to implement this before.
Kind regards,

in a colour that it wasn’t ever known to be in a set. This would cut down on
the HUGE number of mislisted incorrect colours. It would be a huge help. And
those of us that are really listing rare non-production colours would probably
be fine with clicking the “yes, I know this is crazy rare, I want to list it
“ button. The known colours info is already on the site, but many BL sellers
are obviously not looking at it.

| It would be really helpful if the site could memorize your last "sort by" setting
in every section and consider it your default, without exception.
For example, if I open a specific wanted list and sort it by item number, then
every next list I open will also be sorted by item number until I set it back
to "item name."
However, no matter how many times I open the master wanted list, i.e. my list

the page the sorting is set back to "newest."
It would be really great if this could be... sorted out.

| Hello
Many times i search for a decorated items (xxxxPBxx for an exemple).
Exemple
I have this one :
2440pb002 / https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?id=2911#T=C
But it sadly never appears when we search for 2440 (what's only written on
the part)
And that's only thanks a long search on some other website that i finally
could find it on brickink.
So, is it possible to add all those sub-serial numbers to the normal search
For an exemple it could be a new COLOR category : decorated.
Or as for my exemple, it is a black part with decoration, so to put it in the
BLACK color.
Thanks a lot in advance
WOULD HELP A LOT in searches.
best wishes and long live your fabulous website

| At the wanted lists "home page" there's obviouly the list of all your wanted
lists. But on the left, there's a menu where you can click on different part
catagories, set themes, minifigure themes, and such to see what you want from
that subsection across all your wanted lists. I would like the ability to filter
this to look at certain lists and not others, simular to when you're looking
at a store and can choose which wanted lists you want to buy for. I have 18 lists
and it is a little crowded and difficult to compare 2-4 lists with all that extra
information.

| When looking at items in a store there are several options on how to sort the
items (price, quantity, color, etc). I would like a RECENTLY UPDATED option to
be added. This is simular to the RECENTLY ADDED, but not quite.
Recently it took me a few days to finalize a cart and I noticed price and quantity
changes for items in my cart. So I went back to the store to see if pieces I
thought were too expensive had gone down or if more pieces were added to an item
I wanted more of. But I couldn't find an easy way to see this without going
through every item again (which takes a while then there are hundreds of items
in my wantedlists/cart).
The RECENTLY ADDED option just shows when a piece was first added, not updated.
For instance the store I was in, said the most recent item was added in 2012.
This shows a false sense of inactivity which is obviouly wrong when stuff is
changing in my cart and this store has fulfilled thousands of orders. This additional
option would help people like me in simular situations, those who have recently
bought from the store and want to buy again, or who are adding to an order over
the next week or so (I see alot of store allowing this).

I know a lot of work goes on behind the scenes with volunteer administrators
who do a damn good job with the catalogue and inventories.
Is it about time Bricklink appointed an (or more) administrator (s) to oversee
the selling side of Bricklink.
Bricklink would not exists without its revenue from sellers putting in time and
effort to sell and pay fees to Bricklink.
Surely it is only fair to sellers and buyers that items for sale conform to the
rules. If items are being mis-represented they should be removed or sellers given
the opportunity to amend their listing.
It would be nice if Bricklink appointed people to oversee the selling side of
the business. Sellers may then start conforming with their listings

I can search for inventory items that are in a wanted list, but I can't automatically

When I am sorting through my pieces and finding pieces that I already have before
needing to buy more, I want to hide the pieces I either confirm that I do not
have or hide the pieces I have already.
I know I can sort by quantity but that still shows pieces that I have looked
for and do not have.
What is left visible on the lists will be pieces that I have not yet looked for.
I have gotten around this in the past by creating multiple wanted lists per project
and moving pieces to lists that say need to buy... but that has made my wanted
lists messy and I would prefer clean wanted lists.

I have only made 3 purchases since I joined but these 3 people are profiting

| Hello,
After some time as a buyer, I just opened my store on BrickLink.
At first I was only shipping domestic so I configured domestic shipping method
and checked only the domestic checkbox for PayPal payments.
I am now opening to international sales, so I configured international shipping
methods, but I had forgotten about the international checkbox for PayPal and
did not check it.
I got messages from potential buyers saying they could not checkout because I
had not configured a payment method.
I do not understand how enabling international shipping without international
payment can make sense, so I would assume that anyone who did this made a mistake.
My suggestion is to have BrickLink check for this inconsistent configuration
and at least warn sellers about it, or maybe even prevent it from happening.

| I recently noticed that the wording of Forum Rule #4 is quite odd. While I do
understand the meaning of the existing version, it is structured awkwardly and
ambiguously (such that, for example, it could indicate that offensive
words are not to be replaced with pornography!).
A revised version of Rule #4 (such as I have drafted) would clarify what, precisely,
is defined as "offensive" (as this is a highly subjective term), as well as making
the sentence-structure more understandable - Particularly to non-native English-speakers.
Existing:
"Posts should not include foul language, lewd, or other offensive content, or
links to such content. This includes replacing offensive words with alternate
letters or characters, pornography, or any kind of racial/prejudicial content."
Revised:
"Posts should not include offensive content, nor any links to such content, including:
Profane, foul, lewd, pornographic, violent, or prejudicial language or images.
Replacing censored words with alternate letters or characters, or editing images
to obscure forbidden content with pixilation or black bars, is also prohibited."

| Firstly let me say that we know suggestions are not being implemented and according
to MP no work is being done on the classic site however this is a small request
which doesn't require huge amounts of development time and would make life
a bit easier.
Currently the method of manually adding inventory is long winded, provides no
audit trail of what has been done and at best is clumsy.
We use Brickstock for most of our updates to our store. It is much easier, quicker
and provides us with a complete audit trail - the only real snag is what happens
when the file gets to Bricklink, The verify screen drops off the Bricklink part
number for some reason so we are left with an audit trail which, when variants
are involved, isn't really all that helpful, although to be fair we have
used this for some time.
Simply placing the bricklink product code on the verify screen would be very
helpful and this is not a major programming issue. At the same time give us a
print button to print that screen Using the print command from the browser doesn't
work well with the page setup falling short of what is needed.
This is a simple matter and could be resolved in minimal time - please implement.

| Hi,
I hope this is the right place to post this.
I think it would be a good thing to be able to set the maximum number of stores
used to fulfill a wanted list search of matching stores in order to have a good
compromise between items costs and shipping costs.
Since shipping costs can't be taken in count during stores automatic selection,
you could add a parameter "max N° of stores" so that we can compair a result
with 10 stores and very low pieces costs and 2 stores with more high pieces costs.
Sometime shipping costs from many stores override high pieces costs from 1 or
2 stores.
hope is clear enough

| I want to further the discussion at https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1139677
but under an appropriate thread.
In regards to color.
The comments below go to the use of color labeling in the context of being functional
in regards to search. It is not in regards to color accuracy in terms of cataloging.
There is a schism between the two uses because there is only one available field
in the database to handle what are two distinctly different purposes.
At https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1139699 you bring up the color guidelines.
I appreciate as one of the admins, you're attempting to follow the guidelines.
The guidelines however are in conflict with what an average person with no experience
with the guidelines would expect. They're even in conflict with what someone
with greater than average knowledge of the color labeling conventions on BL would
expect. I would reconsider those guidelines.
There are, by my count currently 170 different distinct colors that the system
knows. https://www.bricklink.com/catalogColors.asp
Assuming an ideal world where all of the decorations are accurately color-described
in the database per the guidelines, it's unreasonable to expect any average
person to be able to remember 170 different colors and to accurately identify
every instance of them. Colors shift over time due to aging and formulation.
Color perception changes relative to adjacent colors. Perceived color accuracy
is relative to the available reference photos or renders, the skill of the photographer
to capture the color, the ability of any individual piece of hardware or software
to properly interpret and render the color, lighting conditions, and other factors.
Color is a rainbow hell-hole.
Here is a test situation to illustrate my point. Take the torso in question in
the original thread and show it to 20 random people. Ask them what the colors
are. I'll wager you a cookie that if you ask 20 people who are not jenwick,
that exactly zero describe the blue as "medium azure." I'll wager you another
cookie that less than half describe the purple as "magenta."
With that in mind, somebody comes to the site and attempts to find something.
Somebody will use what they think the color is because that is their perception
of the color, not because they've reviewed the color chart in depth and have
spent time comparing many pieces to one another to grok the nuances and accurately
predict the exact hue necessary to achieve a match in search. What they'll
do is enter the color they think it is (blue) and do a search, and the search
results will be unsatisfactory, and they'll declare they can't find it
and post in the forum "what is this" or they'll search repeatedly and repeatedly
get unsatisfactory results, declare the site too complicated, and go away in
frustration. This frustration ends up being an indelible negative association
with BrickLink in that person's mind.
We've witnessed this scenario time and again here on the forum. We've
witnessed the endless debates over yellowed LBG vs LG, the confusion with pearl
gray and flat silver (two labels for one color), the confusion with pearl gold
(one label for two colors), people can't find pieces they're looking
for when they're looking right at them because the thumbnail color isn't
the same as the color they searched for, and more.
Having people "go away in frustration" is not in the best interest of BL as a
marketplace. Presumably the 10,000 plus shops here have invested some effort
in attempting to sell things. With that in mind, I argue that things which facilitate
sales should have precedent over "historical accuracy" when it comes to searching
the catalog. One needs to be able to find something before one can dig deep into
understanding it and its associated nuances...if one even needs or wants to understand
them.
We know a better solution to the issue would be a more robust database. As we've
been told repeatedly that isn't going to happen, you're left with a choice.
Either you populate the description field with user-friendliness or with historical
accuracy in mind (for user-friendliness, decoration colors in the item/description
would be their most generic counterparts: black, gray, silver, white, gold, red,
orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, brown, tan, chrome, copper, and speckle).
I would suggest the item field be populated with user-friendliness in mind and
that the note/comment field be generously populated with the historical accuracy
and other more esoteric information.
It's not an ideal solution, but it would work within the current operational
parameters of the database and site interface.
On contributions.
I went through a discussion with the Stormchaser about this at length. This isn't
going to improve until all the UI is improved. The forms are too convoluted and
not explained well and the explanations are hidden and it's just too much
work for anybody who isn't more than casually dedicated. All the instructions
for filling a form need to be adjacent to the fields on the form. The instructions
are buried elsewhere. If you start filling a form, then have to leave to find
instructions, the form is then blanked when you return, and that's an issue
and causes frustration. The UI can't improve much without programmer time.
The whole issue gained no traction while I was communicating with the Stormchaser.
I don't expect any improvement any time soon. Refer to second picture attached
after you finish reading this post.
In regards to the Stormchaser.
You'll forgive me if I read your statement about following in his footsteps
probably not the way you intended it. It's pretty clear that being a volunteer
admin at BrickLink is basically like being in the "zone" in Stalker https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079944/
To really appreciate the statement, you'll have to experience the movie,
if you haven't already.
Stormchaser's footsteps promised much change, then he made like Mrs. Hogwallop.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsAZ0RweVxk So maybe don't follow those footsteps
too closely.
I had a number of communications with the Stormchaser both on- and off-line.
I'll suggest to you the same thing I did with him: read Steve Krug's
"Don't Make Me Think" https://www.amazon.com/Dont-Make-Think-Revisited-Usability/dp/0321965515/
This book has been revised a few times. I'm familiar with the second version,
but would expect the later versions to be effectively the same content probably
with more recent references. It's a quick read, and appropriate for non-technical
types. He said it helped him with how he thought about things he wanted to do.
So. Food for thought. And in closing, because you asked, a portrait of Randy
after reading this post.

| I had enough of these in the last few weeks that waiting 2 full weeks is painful
to complete them.
I don't mind the 1 week to pay before it is started. But another full 7 days
to complete the NPB is not necessary.
I would propose 3 additional days and that is it. Let us get our stock back
in our stores to sell to someone else instead of being held at our will for 14
full days when 10 is plenty enough.
I can't be the only one that feels this way and 14 days might have worked
10-15 years ago when access to Smart-Phones wasn't as widespread, but these
days, you can't go far without having the ability to respond. Thanks

| Please consider making a mobile-friendly version of the site. I really love Bricklink,
but the browsing experience is absolutely terrible on a mobile device. E.g. constantly
having to zoom in/out to interact with the website is extremely painful from
a UX perspective.
Alternatively (or in addition to the above suggestion), consider developing a
mobile app. That would be awesome!!
Thank you for your consideration.

| Hello.
I would like to indicate a problem when it comes to register my adress in the
bricklink system.
I am from Belgium and more specificaly from the "Province du Luxembourg", which
is different from "Luxembourg", the country.
In the system, when I have to chose my region, I can only select "Luxembourg"
and not the "Province du Luxembourg" and end up with an adress ending with "Luxembourg
Belgium", instead of "Province du Luxembourg Belgium". Needless to say that
the firt option is a mess as the post offices get completly confused when it
comes to chosing in which country the lego should be sent...
Could you fix this please?
Thank you!

| When entering a part number, instructions or minifig to inventory if said part
and color, instruction or mini Id number matches alert message displays, Item
in inventory. You can have this as an option to turn off or on in Want List section.

| Hi!
I bet you that many of the doors 3188, 3189, 3192, 3193, 3194, 3195, 445 and
446 marketed on this site are in fact doors with thin handle, which means that
they are incorrectly marketed.
Isn't that a problem for a market place, and shouldn't BL solve this
problem?
The doors with thin handle should be marketed under the part id 3188a, 3189a,
3192a, 3193a, 3194a, 3195a, 445a and 446a.
So the doors with thin handle are more plentiful on the market, sellers almost
always sends me the door with thin handle when they should have sent me the door
with a vertical hole beside the handle. Some sellers, which I admire, label the
door with the description "open handle" whereas the thin handle door they label
"closed handle".
At the same time, all these doors with thin handle only turn up on the inventory
list of one, that is 1, set on BL, set 341-1!
BL could solve this by inserting the door with thin handle as an alternative
in all those sets which contain the relevant doors. Or say that the door with
thin handle is the normal part, whereas the door with open handle is an alternative.
This would stop the potential for disputes between buyers and sellers, and make
life easier here on BL.
Also I wish that BL would instruct the sellers on BL to label their doors correctly.

| Hello!
I bet you that more than half of the bricks marketed here on BL as 3009p01 are
in fact 3009p01e.
Isn't that a problem for a market place?
I have been buying several lately and always I have received the brick with embossed
print.
At the same time the surface print 3009p01 is said by BL to be included in 19
sets, whereas 3009p01e isn't appearing in any set at all. The brick with
embossed print is (probably) more plentiful on the market but it shouldn't
appear in any set?
I think BL could resolve this by inserting in those 19 inventory lists the 3009p01e
as an alternative part?
It would stop the potential for disputes between byers and sellers and diminish
aggravation.
At the same time I think BL should instruct the sellers on BL to learn the difference
between surface print and embossed print, so that they could label their products
correctly.

| I think it might be helpful to be able to sort our searche of the catalog by
item number.
It would be particular helpful when needing to determine the next number in sequence
when adding new parts with patterns and minifigures.
Shops seem to have this functionality but not the main catalog.

| I have two suggestions which would make it so much better bricklink experience.
1. Save the amount to view to the user, and not cache. I really dislike the default
of showing 25 items. I always have to click on the drop down to show 500, but
then it doesn't automatically load, so I have to refresh the browser to actually
see the 500. Then going to the next item page, and again it's back to 25.
This is the same in stores as well when viewing the items from a given store,
it default at 25 and I have to keep clicking the drop down to select 100. Can
we save it in setting for user so it's the same no matter what computer we
are logged into?
2. When viewing items for shopping, can we save the option for selecting where
the seller is from? I'm from the USA, but I will never buy from anywhere
other than USA, but it shows from all countries as default. I have to click on
"More Options" to select Seller Location to be set to USA only. When I go to
the next item, same thing. Can we have it saved to setting so it will always
show whatever we set it as? In my case, it will always be USA.

| Title says most of it. Would like a checkbox, like the weight missing in catalog
to be able to view all inventory with any of the dimensions missing from the
catalog. Most parts aren't an issue but some large ones slip through and
it really hurts customer service telling them you can't ship what they order
for what they paid.

| Hi,
I just noticed the current maintenance reminder which shows the time with the
EDT time zone.
Could you please use the time zone the user is currently in?
The best way could be JavaScript. There you can determine the users time zone
and keep up markup caching while changing the date information after page load.
I think this would be helpful for users around the world.
cheers,
