  Hi

I know a lot of work goes on behind the scenes with volunteer administrators
who do a damn good job with the catalogue and inventories.

Is it about time Bricklink appointed an (or more) administrator (s) to oversee
the selling side of Bricklink.

Bricklink would not exists without its revenue from sellers putting in time and
effort to sell and pay fees to Bricklink.

Surely it is only fair to sellers and buyers that items for sale conform to the
rules. If items are being mis-represented they should be removed or sellers given
the opportunity to amend their listing.

It would be nice if Bricklink appointed people to oversee the selling side of
the business. Sellers may then start conforming with their listings

tpr

I think also there should be sanctions where this appears to be deliberate. If
you make a mistake (such as listing new when it has been used) and it is reported
and BL agrees, then it's fine and you should learn from it. If you make that
same mistake again (say within six months or a year), then you get a week's
ban from selling. If you do it again after that, it's a month ban.

Maybe with different limits for bigger stores / higher turnover stores.

There are quite a few "new" sets that have been "built once" on here. It seems
admins are busy doing other things instead of removing these when they are reported.

That is not true for series 1 up to 15 where all leaflets had a unique numbering,
also most series at least up to series 13 (if not all) had a unique code on them
to unlock the characters on the website https://www.playminifigures.com/ (is
no longer active, was closed at the end of 2016).

What do you mean by unique numbering?

Do you mean the 122091-1, 2, 3 codes?

I've just looked at 27 Series 8 leaflets, all have 122091-1 or 122091-2,
and I have not seen any other numbers after the dash. The exact same number is
on other series leaflets too. For Series 10 I have a 122091-3. I don't think
these numbers were unique to individual sets within a series.

You just said it has two arms, but it doesn't unless you are counting the
unattached robot arm and claw.

Part No: 981 Name: Arm, Left
*
981 Arm, Left
Parts: Minifigure, Body Part

Part No: 62691 Name: Arm Mechanical
*
62691 Arm Mechanical
Parts: Minifigure, Body Part

I make that two arms.

The catalog picture for a minifigure shows the
minifigure assembled. Most catalog pictures for sets show the set assembled.
But your customers are not expecting you to take what Lego supplied and assemble
it for them like the picture.

I agree. Most customers buying new parts expect me to take the new parts as supplied
by LEGO and send those. They do not expect me to assemble them. But I cannot
sell the parts that LEGO supplied here, I have to sell either a combination of
them or pull them apart. There is no option to sell it as it was originally supplied.

It is the inconsistency that is a problem. Going back to the sprues, LEGO did
not intend them to be used according to the pictures of the sets. But BL catalogues
these parts as coming on a sprue. They are listed as coming that way in the set,
whether or not all the parts are needed. There is an option to sell the parts
connected to a sprue (or in a bag) as supplied or sell the parts individually.
Whereas here, they are not listed as they come in the set. There is no option
to sell the parts as supplied.

Is there a listing option here to check which complete sets could I be able to

take apart for the purpose? I have a crazy amount of spare parts, I'd like
to check wether they could add up to some nice, complete sets

Do you really want to sell a torso with 1 arm? Is there is a market for that?

It is what lego supplied. It has two arms, just no robot arm / claw extension.
I don't know if there is a market for it, as it cannot be sold that way.

And there are plenty of listings for torsos without arms, whether there is a
market for them or not. They all get catalogued even though this is not how lego
supply them. Yet these pieces don't get listed as they are supplied - but
do get catalogued if you either add another part or remove some parts.

OK, so it's historical. Will this ever be changed to reflect what is actually
received in a set rather than what is needed for a set, like the debate about
the sprued parts now being the whole sprue rather than the required parts only?

If parting these out it is necessary to assemble them, and I don't want to
assemble them if they later become the individual parts.

Please don't assemble ANY of the minifig parts if you are selling it to me.
Why would this imply that anyone wanted you to do that?

Because at Bricklink you cannot sell the torso assembly as it is supplied by
LEGO. There is not a catalogue entry for the torso, arm and hand and robot arm
without the claw, as supplied by LEGO. To match the catalogue entry, you need
to add the robot arm.

It implies you have to either add the arm to the torso, or bag them separately
to keep them together, or store them unattached but need to remember to add the
robot arm, and hope the buyer finds the robot arm before complaining that it
is missing the arm.

973pb1652c02 (Inv) Torso Space Classic Moon with Simulated Wear Pattern / Blue Arm Left / Blue Hand Left / Pearl Dark Gray Mechanical Arm Right / Black Claw Right

I have opened seven of the CMF versions and they do not come like this in the
set. The torso comes without the robot arm attached. Is there are reason having
only the assembly in the inventory, and not having it how it actually comes in
the CMF set?

I wouldn't pay higher fees for this, so voted no.

Also, there are not that many active UK stores. For BL to implement this for

I have no idea. last name change was done by Robert

So ask him ...if you have contact with him.
I really have no knowledge about it.

This set was originally listed as Actor, it was then changed to Thespian. I asked
for the Actor name to be reinstated, which it was, and then it was removed again.

The minifigure version has both names:

Minifig No: col126 Name: Thespian / Actor, Series 8 (Minifigure Only without Stand and Accessories)
*
col126 (Inv) Thespian / Actor, Series 8 (Minifigure Only without Stand and Accessories)
Minifigures: Collectible Minifigures: Series 8 Minifigures

Why can the set not keep both names?

Have no idea.

And on their webpages, LEGO refer to it as ACTOR. If it can have only one name,
then surely it should be the LEGO one.

https://www.lego.com/en-gb/themes/minifigures/products/lego-minifigures-8833

I'd suggest it again, but seeing as I have done it once and it got done and
then changed back again later I don't see the point of going round in circles.

It should really drop the "The" as well - we don't have The Butcher, The
Plumber, etc.

So I've change it to be the same as minifig entry, but you know in the future
a new admin can change it back again

Thanks, hopefully the dual name will stay. I know people use both.

Thanks also for correcting the spelling of ANTON'S tile.

That's a good idea. How about membership fees of $1000 per year. But that
allows you to get $1000 of credit towards any BL orders you place in that year.
For large buyers it will make no difference. For small buyers, it will encourage
them to spend more.*

my business and money to another shop. Where I am either buying from someone

purchase amount. So my suggestion is to add a donation field/possibility to finish
passing the required purchase line.

I have only made 3 purchases since I joined but these 3 people are profiting
by shop deterrence over the min buy. One of which was a difference of 3 cents
to the min buy vs. paying 1 cent more for the same thing because it didn't
have one.

If a few cents deter you to buy then maybe Lego hobby it's too expensive
for you.
Regards
Nectara

spending a few extra cents doesn't deter me; being a few extra cents away
from min purchase amount and not being able to find something else I desire to
reach that min buy amount however does.

For example:

if I am after certain minifigs

shop a) has fig 1 for 1.99, and fig 2 for 2.99 that I am after - with a min buy
of 5.00 I am at 4.98. 2 cents away

shop b) will have the same one for 2.00 but no min buy - so I purchase that one
(shop a misses out)

shop c) will have fig. 2 for 6.00 and a min buy of 5.00 - and I'll pay the
extra $3 for that one - because it passes the min buy margin.

It's not that I'm paying more that's the issue - it's more so
that shop a, is missing out on business because of literally 2 cents (or even
$2) that I would be more than willing to donate just so save a 5 or 10 minutes.

so now shop a misses out on a possible profit due to selectivity and lack of
a difference feature

So you will overpay by $3 and also pay two lots of shipping, which is probably
another $2 minimum. In this example, was there really nothing else under $5 that
you could have added, getting you a cheaper overall price plus a free item?

Which is why my part didn't show up properly, most
people are listed as

Set No: 630 Name: Brick Separator, Orange
*
630-3 (Inv) Brick Separator, Orange
1 Part, 2012
Sets: Service Packs

whereas really they should be

Part No: 96874 Name: Brick and Axle Separator
*
96874 Brick and Axle Separator
Parts: Human Tool

There are 87 of the "set", whereas there are 4294 listings for the part. So most
people have listed them as the single part. The sealed ones listed as sets are
likely to be correct, as are the used ones listed as sets as they do not need
to contain the packaging (although the listing should say that).

If you have plenty of a single part set (or single minifigure set), it is often
a good idea to list some as the part (or minifigure) and some as the set, as
different buys will search for different things.

in blue that I put on the build cracked almost immediately with an audible sound.
I had never seen or heard anything like this before in any LEGO that I owned,
so I stopped building right away.

When I looked at the parts, I noticed right away that the color of them looked
off. I then remembered that people here in the forums had talked about a "Brittle
Blue". Sure enough, these parts seem to match the typical color that I have found
in the forums for this "Brittle Blue".

After that, I looked through all of the blue parts in the set and noticed almost
all of them have this same off color of blue. I am afraid to try building with
any of the other parts so as not to crack them. It looks like the only blue parts
in the set that are not "Brittle Blue" are the cup, steering wheel stand and
the modified bricks.

Since some people seem to collect pieces in this "color", I was wondering if
anyone in the forums would be interested in some absolutely brand new "Brittle
Blue" pieces that have never been used in any way. If you are interested, let
me know.

Cheers,
Randy

That is really bad, it must be disappointing for that to happen when opening
a new set.

Can you guarantee they will break on first use?

single colors.

I will sell them on other well known sites.

While this piece is being discussed, I have always found the name odd. It only
looks like a 1x4 hinge brick when it is paired together. Therefore if it is not
paired, then the parts are not a 1x4 brick. They look like 1x2 bricks with a
bit of modification.

LEGO refers to the individual pieces as a "hinge 1x2 upper part" or "lower part".
Which makes more sense when you are searching for it.

Well, yes, you are right. The seller has to cancel when requested but is entitled
to taking any measures they like. Especially since this Bricklink world is slightly
different from regular online retail as a lot of labour goes into getting an
order together.
Maybe the "without penalty" part wasn't phrased to well. At least I would
like the language to change. Because right now some sellers write things in their
terms like "I don't accept cancellation requests" or "orders are legally
binding contracts" or stuff like that. I think there's an important distinction
between discouraging it / considering it rude or something like that on the one
hand, and making buyers believe they have no actual choice but to pay up on the
other hand. The latter is basically misinformation about the rights that consumers
have. I think vulnerable/naive consumers should be protected by at least being
offered store terms that don't obscure their rights.

Yeah, I totally agree. This is sort of covered already in the terms, as sellers
must abide by their local laws, and writing contract terms that go against those
just mean the buyer is likely to win if they ever took the case to small claims
court or equivalent.

That said, the BL terms mention that orders are "legally binding contracts",
which probably needs cleaning up.

  - Being responsible for lost shipments - meaning full refund or resend if anything
goes missing

And no problem there, and this holds if the buyer pays with paypal anyway. Although
if BL start asking for proof of delivery routinely, this may change smaller orders
as sellers start charging for this.

I think Bricklink could do two things in all this: 1. Enforcing by being involved
with the actual transactions, which might be complicated and costly (although
that is not an excuse it is not needed - perhaps it is) and/or 2. Simply moderate
store terms ahead of any transactions a store may be involved in. That's
not too much manual work, and we live in an age where computers can recognize
actual people in photographs, so I'm pretty sure some algorithms can be put
together to spot illegal store term claims. Even with a simple search operation
it's easy to spot them.
I think the main problem has to do with stores having illegal terms more than
store having legal terms but not keeping to them. Once the store terms are sound,
buyers will be able to call out and spot bad sellers pretty easily whenever they
cause trouble that's not in line with their own terms.

Yeah, although there are probably ways around the machine learning checks for
terms. It might be better that BL has one set of terms that sellers must agree
to, standardised across all stores. Where necessary there could be country based
amendments (across all sellers in that country) due to local laws.

- Full acceptance of cancellation without penalty and without reason required

This issue has been around for years (as has the thread!). There is no legal
right to cancellation without penalty. The buyer has a right to cancel,
but that does not mean that they can order, then cancel. Order, then cancel.
And so on without penalty. If a buyer becomes a problem for a store (whether
on BL or elsewhere), the store is legally entitled to stop selling to them. It
is the same with feedback - feedback does not affect the right to cancellation.
Just because a buyer has a right to cancel, it does not take away the right a
seller has to leave feedback or file a NPB. Of course, if a buyer is responsive
and asks for a cancellation, then many decent sellers will allow cancellations
and they may be more lenient than if the buyer just doesn't pay. But if a
buyer orders then cancels, orders then cancels, orders then cancels, it wouldn't
surprise me if the buyer gets blocked from buying from that store.

  - Accepting returns and refunding the buyer including the postage cost and the
postage cost of sending it back

Again, legally they have this right (although may need to pay return postage
if this is detailed in the seller's terms). But that doesn't mean the
seller cannot block them to stop them doing it again in the future.

Large online retailers are starting to crack down on people buying items, especially
clothes, wearing them with the tags on, then returning them.

- Not charging more for transaction fees than the transactions actually cost

No problem there.

  And last but not least:

- Being responsible for lost shipments - meaning full refund or resend if anything
goes missing

And no problem there, and this holds if the buyer pays with paypal anyway. Although
if BL start asking for proof of delivery routinely, this may change smaller orders
as sellers start charging for this.

This is great and all of that; as I don't support customs fraud, and so I
support this idea of yours! HOWEVER, the problem with buying internationally
(at least for a Canadian Buyer as myself) is that the sales taxes (GST, HST and/or
PST) *IN PARTICULAR* (it's much, MUCH more difficult to do it with customs
duty fees, but whatever...) aren't usually automatically levied and actually
shown/itemized on invoices for Bricklink orders from Sellers in foreign countries
like the U.S. when the net amount [price of LEGO goods, excluding shipping, handling
and insurance fees (if insurance is requested by the Buyer or is made mandatory
by the Seller)] is over $40, which is the *new* minimum amount in which GST,
HST, PST, etc. can be levied for importing goods via e-commerce. Therefore, this
creates an emotional headache for the Buyer when the mail person delivers the
parcel to the shipping address but asks for sales taxes plus the customs handling
fee payments *before* releasing the parcel to the Buyer (or to someone else on
the Buyer's behalf), as the buyer is often either in one of two situations
– one, he/she is not always home there when the parcel is attempted delivery;
or two, the buyer's own home address is different from the delivering-to
address (the latter one is the one that applies to me personally there), and
the person who is supposedly accepting the parcel on the Buyer's behalf refuses
to pay anything that is owning to various levels of government (sales taxes,
customs duties and/or customs handling fees) on the Buyer's behalf (to which
the Buyer will later pay back to whoever had to pay the various fees to the postal
worker UP FRONT on the Buyer's behalf) – which results the Buyer in needlessly
in having to go to the local post office to pick up the parcel and make "surprise"
payments for any sales taxes (as well as possible customs duty fees, in some
cases) plus the customs handling fee that are owning there.

I don't really see how any of this is different to other countries that charge
sales tax on imported goods over a threshold. If you buy over the threshold,
you get taxed. It is your job to know about this as an importer buyer, and there
should not be a surprise.

I'd go for salmon or something like that.

Are you talking about the colour of the fresh flesh, the cooked flesh, or the
smoked flesh? At what time of the year the salmon was killed? What did the
salmon eat? Were there artificial colorants added? Or are you talking about
the colour of its scales? And are they the scales on the belly, the head, the
tail? And which of the 8 species of fish that we name “salmon”?

Don't start on lavender. I have about 15 different varieties in my garden,
and none of them match the colour of BL's lavender.

I'm still waiting on BL to address the different shades of black.
Black
Dark Black
Light Black
Dark Bluish Black
Light Bluish Black
Trans-Chrome Black
Whitish Black
The list goes on!

Don't forget "Priests' socks" black. All others are really very, very,
very very dark blue.

It depends what you are buying. If just minifigures, then a normal to larger
smart phone screen would be fine if there was a decent interface. Similarly,
if buying from an already set up wants list, a smaller screen is fine.

The brand filter is not working correctly. I have LEGO only turned on, yet I
am shown adverts for non-LEGO items during my searches. Is it possible to turn
off non-LEGO products?

so it is definitely *not* a "Technic, Pin Connector". And that's a fact.

I submitted changes along this train of thought long ago but they were not approved.
It is a 1x1 Liftarm in actuality but functions only as a bushing. I support moving
it to a more appropriate category.

Jen

I had never thought of it as a 1x1 liftarm, but that makes perfect sense at least
in an algorithmic type way. A liftarm that cannot actually lift or connect anything!
Maybe go further and rename all liftarms as double bush, treble bush, etc!

Because there’s no constistence to the catalogue?

Personally, I'd go with a naming convention of the form:

Part No: 32054 Name: Technic, Pin 3L with Friction Ridges and Stop Bush
*
32054 Technic, Pin 3L with Friction Ridges and Stop Bush
Parts: Technic, Pin

Pin 2L (with friction ridges) and Stop Bush 1L.

So a normal pin would be a pin 2L, a half pin would be a pin 1L, and so on. Anything
with four half pins would be "with 4 pins 1L" and so on.

Okay… provided we agree on what a “L” is and out-of-system dimensions like “2/3
L” are verified before being accepted in the catalogue

Yes, consistency is key. Maybe as a definition, call 1L equal to what LEGO call
1M.

Why half of it? And if it was half of it, shouldn't that one be named a "double
pin".

I have always taken a pin to be that whole part. If you have half of it, then
you have half a pin. Which is how this one is named.

Part No: 4274 Name: Technic, Pin 1/2 without Friction Ridges
*
4274 Technic, Pin 1/2 without Friction Ridges
Parts: Technic, Pin

And of course if you have 3/4 of it, you get this one.

Part No: 32002 Name: Technic, Pin 3/4
*
32002 Technic, Pin 3/4
Parts: Technic, Pin

But then the naming problems come with longer ones.

Part No: 6558 Name: Technic, Pin 3L with Friction Ridges
*
6558 Technic, Pin 3L with Friction Ridges
Parts: Technic, Pin

and so on. These should be 1.5 pins but now use the L naming instead so 3L.

Maybe normal pins should be called "pin 2L", half pins could be called "1/2 pin
1L" and so on, although just "pin 1L" would do if the L designation is used.

Especially when things like this are named

Part No: 47994 Name: Technic, Pin Double Triangle 1 x 3 with 2 Clips with Round Pin Holes
*
47994 Technic, Pin Double Triangle 1 x 3 with 2 Clips with Round Pin Holes
Parts: Technic, Pin

as pin double, when really they are "pin 1/2" double. And double is also used
here:

Part No: 32138 Name: Technic, Pin Double with Axle Hole
*
32138 Technic, Pin Double with Axle Hole
Parts: Technic, Pin

What is double here, is it two full pins joined side by side with a stop bush
inserted into the middle with an axle hole (as suggested by the name), or is
it quadruple 1/2 pins? Plus the L dimensions are not given.

Worse still, this one is now not a double, but four pins (really 1/2 pins).
Or should it be a double pin, where the pins are separated with something in
the middle, like above.

Part No: 48989 Name: Technic, Pin Connector Perpendicular 3L with 4 Pins
*
48989 Technic, Pin Connector Perpendicular 3L with 4 Pins
Parts: Technic, Connector

Plus this one isn't a pin anymore, whereas the one above is.

Unless you get exactly the same thing in each cup this calculation really doesn't
work. It works for you if you are curious as to the value you got but really
has nothing to do with the difference in size.

Just one example: You have the 28 1x4 which would be equivalent to about 250-350
1x1 round plates which equals nearly $12 (assuming 300).

I think a simple solution would be to fill the small cup with water twice and
dump it into the large cup to see what the difference in volume is.

That is a rough guide but with bricks you cannot fill the cups completely due
to voids. I know in the past people have checked the value of filling a big vs
small cup with just one type of part at a time (2x4 bricks or 1x1 round tiles).

For example, you can get 102 2x4s (8.8c each) in a small cup, compared to 167
(9.6c) in a large. Whereas if you just scoop into the small cup, it is down at
56 bricks (16.1c).

You’ll note that on that page, keffiyeh is spelled keffiyah.
(While the wiktionary lists kaffiyah, kufiya, and kufiyah as alternative spellings,
but not keffiyah.)

Spellings and especially accents are a real pain.

My claim to fame is that I managed to get "Palantir" added to "Palantír".

Not only didn't I know there was an accent on the i, as an English speaker/writer
I haven't a clue how to add an accent anyway so would never have been able
to search for it.

I tried similar for Joachim Low, Mesut Ozil, and so on, but they were rejected.

For some reason, Jérôme (Jerome) Boateng is allowed as a minifigure name only,
but as a set he is just Jérôme Boateng. The one that is a pain is André Schürrle,
as he has an accent in both names so cannot be searched unless you can enter
accents or cut and paste his name. Quicker to just search for "DFB" instead.

At any rate, taking the time to type this all out should help me remember in
the future and I discovered that one only has to type "kef*" in the headgear
search and this pops up so I should be able to remember those 3 letters at least
going forward.

Took me awhile to remember "kepi" for this part too, but I remembered eventually.

Part No: 30135 Name: Minifigure, Headgear Cavalry Cap (Kepi)
*
30135 Minifigure, Headgear Cavalry Cap (Kepi)
Parts: Minifigure, Headgear

You can request a change, to add the word turban to it. https://www.bricklink.com/catalogReq.asp?itemType=P

For example, Katana was added to this one:

Part No: 30173b Name: Minifigure, Weapon Sword, Shamshir/Katana (Square Guard) with Uncapped Pommel and Hole in Hilt
*
30173b Minifigure, Weapon Sword, Shamshir/Katana (Square Guard) with Uncapped Pommel and Hole in Hilt
Parts: Minifigure, Weapon

Fortunately, the more basic "sword" was also kept!

Just Ask Bricklink to change the description of what you think is wrong. I have
been doing the last few weeks and they have changed the description on everything
I asked them to.

Example

Item No: 14769pb196
Used to have title
Tile, Round 2 x 2 with Bottom Stud Holder with Tree Trunk Pattern

I was searching for Wood Grain which was not in the description at all. Not "Wood"
or "Grain"

I sent request and within 2 days they updated it to

Tile, Round 2 x 2 with Bottom Stud Holder with Tree Trunk, Wood Grain Pattern

I also made a youtube video on how to submit such things to help make bricklink
better!

https://youtu.be/H3M6AlhoEUM

While names are updated quickly, I doubt that they will update categories so
freely. Some people sort and store by type, and to just move a part from one
type to another is not something they should do without careful thought.

LARGE Vs. SMALL

https://youtu.be/4ewH-smrNFc

If you think you can sell them for the 6c price, you should have filled up with
the 1x1 round tile (closed eye). You can pack more than 3x of those than the
2x2 corner plate into either cup, and 3x6c = 18c, more than the "best value"
2x2 corner plates at 10c.

That might also be why your small cup appears better value, as you have 173 of
this part in the small cup but only 285 in the large cup. To make a fairer cost
comparison, you could have put 308 into the large cup (173*$16/$9). Or keep the
ratios of all the parts you add the same in both cups.

a plate modified when

Part No: 88646 Name: Tile, Modified 3 x 4 with 4 Studs in Center
*
88646 Tile, Modified 3 x 4 with 4 Studs in Center
Parts: Tile, Modified
is a tile modified?

There is no consistency, both could be either.

You could say the parent of 6576 is either a 4x8 plate or 4x8 tile, but the 4x8
tile doesn't exist so 6576 must be a modified plate.

Or you could say you add 12 studs to the tile or remove 20 studs from the plate,
so it is closer to being a tile than a plate.

For 88646, neither the parent tile or plate exist. You add 4 studs to the tile,
but remove 8 from the plate and also have to shift them. So does that make it
a modified tile rather than modified plate?

If so, then the 1x2 jumper should be a modified tile (add one stud, vs remove
and move one stud). Similarly a 2x2 jumper is definitely closer to a tile than
a plate but is still a modified plate. Worse still, this pack of jumper bricks:

Set No: 10115 Name: Jumper Bricks
*
10115-1 (Inv) Jumper Bricks
80 Parts, 2001
Sets: Bulk Bricks
contains no bricks at all.

Part No: 33909 Name: Tile, Modified 2 x 2 with Studs on Edge
*
33909 Tile, Modified 2 x 2 with Studs on Edge
Parts: Tile, Modified
is clearly a 2x2 plate with two studs removed, but it is a modified tile.

Part No: 6180 Name: Tile, Modified 4 x 6 with Studs on Edges
*
6180 Tile, Modified 4 x 6 with Studs on Edges
Parts: Tile, Modified
is also a modified tile rather than plate (compare to 6576).

thank you, Nita Rae

Only if the seller has the right to refuse to add paperwork and allow them to

I imagine the BL worry is that a buyer could just email a xml file to a seller,
they pick the order as themselves so no fees, invoice by email, then send it

Under known colours it is listed in black and metallic gold. I have this part,
but in fact it is not metallic gold but tan (inside) and the outside is only
printed metallic gold. Is this the regular version that shoul be listed under
metallic gold?

I’d say it’s the regular version: Metallic Gold isn’t a plastic colour, it’s
coated on another colour (generally Tan).
On the other hand, I thought the coating always cover all the part’s surface
(but I don’t have many parts in MG, and none hollow/concave like a hat/helmet).

It makes sense not to paint the inside of a helmet if the way they do it allows
for that.

Yes, some chrome parts, such as this torso are similar:

Part No: 973pb1126c01 Name: Torso SW TC-14 with Blue, Red and White Wires Pattern / Chrome Silver Arms / Light Bluish Gray Hands
*
973pb1126c01 (Inv) Torso SW TC-14 with Blue, Red and White Wires Pattern / Chrome Silver Arms / Light Bluish Gray Hands
Parts: Minifigure, Torso Assembly, Decor.

It is the base colour inside (which is OK) but also if you move the arms from
their down position (much worse!). The paint shadow shows that they coat the
torsos after the arms are inserted.

Exploriens Value Pack
space: Exploriens: vp-25

maybe?

I would add "Space 3-Pack" to the title, seeing as that is what is written on

There were about 2 cubic feet of Bionicles that I would like to sell. There were
only 3 instruction sets in the lot. Traditionally I would find the sets on BL,
then print them to check off those sets I have, and what on the lot is found.
I put these into bags, and work my way through the lot until I have complete
sets, or know just some small parts to replace/purchase.

This appears very old-school. What I would like is a like a "hypothetical" inventory,
that I can add a complete set, then click on the items as "found". This would
be nice if I could tag this to a lot for when I buy things off eBay or Facebook
Marketplace.BL to do this?

Use this tool to identify sets:

Do they still have holes in the head? I guess they are glued? If so they cannot
be sold as parts. I guess you could try selling as glued minifigures, but they
might be more interesting to buyers to sell as keychains without the chain.

divisible by 100 and when I miss that I am warned which is great and very helpful.
It should be the same when sellers have a stupid rule similar to described.
If a seller wants to have a stupid rule so be it, but it should be more obvious
to the buyer when selecting quantities to purchase.

Do you mean the average lot value is $1, or that every lot must be a multiple
of $1 (or at least $1)?

Average lot values are common now, and should be stated at the top of the page
in a store if the seller has correctly implemented them.

The same way it is in sets.

and it decreases 6 months average.

It has been asked a number of times in the past, I think the reason is that anything
in "gear" is defined as not have packaging.

Also gear cannot be incomplete which is why you have to make sure you exclude
these when thinking about value.

Another good use for the boxes is for posting large numbers of baseplates.

When parting out huge sets with thousands of pieces, it would also be nice to
be able to save the progress and continue later. Maybe there should be one upload
button for each lot, so I don't have to go through the entire list first
and then submit all changes at once.

Use the "exclude all parts" option when you part out, that way you can click
each part as you include them. It means you can stop uploading parts during
a part out whenever you like without all of the others being uploaded too.

It would be nice if the catalog had the sophistication to have a metapart that
would collect listings of all three in a search if someone really didn't
care which.

I guess it does in a way as you can search for "arch 1 x 6 x 2 -curved -pattern"
if you don't care which one you get, but it only really works for searches
and not wants lists. So yes having a metadata tag to link them would be good.
Same for a number of other parts with minor variations that may be inconsequential
for some people but important for others.

The thin / thick thing is described in the notes, and mm dimensions given. Personally,
the difference between the old and new style (with/without the reinforcement)
is enough, but I I can understand why the different variants are there.

41999 was bad enough, but that was more quantity, a smaller audience, and worldwide.

Releasing these with no notice and just to Wal-Mart in the US is a dick move.
It's not like they are fringe characters either, a lot of people like these

I'm all for scumbag reselling, you have to hate the game not the player.
LEGO shouldn't be enabling this in the first place, just like 41999, just
like the series 18 Policeman. I'm all for taking advantage as a seller, but
I don't agree the opportunity should exist in the first place.

I'm hoping they do release worldwide, and not limited. It would be stupid
not to. If they don't release Emmet and Wyldstyle, then there is no point
in wider releases of Sweet Mayhem and Benny.

  Hi,

as a buyer, I found having only two choices for parts condition is far too basic
and not useful, mostly for buyers, but also for sellers who seek accuracy and
honesty regarding their inventory.

I mean, for now a seller can only pick new or used, but pretty much everyone
has his/her own standard and I got some used parts which are like new, some others
which are closer to the one way ticket to trash, if you see what I mean .

It's not good nor practical to force seller to put actual picture(s) of all
the used parts, both hobbyist and professional has better use of their time I
guess.
Plus, asking for every single part before ordering is not good either, some sellers
didn't took time to reply to potential buyer's question already.

And when seller put description, it's quite subjective, one adjective is
far to describe actual shape of a part: "bite marks, yellowish", ok but how many
marks, how deep ?
how much "yellowished" is the brick ?
Some may claims "quite good", some other "I can't send them to trash".

A quality score could be added to a used part. It would be used as well to set
the sell price, as trash-ready used parts can lower the infamous "average 6 months"
and lower ALL prices, which is very unfair for like new parts.

Any thoughts ?

I agree there should be different qualities of used, although it would probably
cause more arguments than it will solve.

I tend to avoid buying any used parts unless absolutely necessary simply because
for some sellers used means any old junk. It is unfair on sellers that take pride
in their used parts and sell only the best quality. I am also probably missing
out on getting decent used parts and instead pay higher for new, but I was burned
on my first few transactions here and quickly learned not to buy used. If there
was a "like new" used condition, I'd probably buy more used.

People said that more series of minifigs would sell this way from the very beginning
and the catalog would not listen. People said superlots were a pain in the butt
for these from the very beginning and the catalog would not listen. People said
that selling complete sets under the random entry would screw up the price guide
from the very beginning and the catalog would not listen.

Now we have the start of some data to prove that BrickLink lost out on a *LOT*
of potential sales over all of those years because of the unwillingness of the
catalog to move forward on something that the membership clearly wanted from
the very beginning.

It is very nice to see the catalog move in this direction for those of us who
wanted these entries in place for years upon years.

Here's to hoping that all of the other series are added very soon!

I agree it has been a pain that it has not happened in the past to maintain the
"purity" of the catalogue. Same with other important assemblies (like Treebeard
and Groot).

I really hope that BL is now seeing the catalogue as a tool of the marketplace
to enable sellers to sell and buyers to buy, rather than something that has to
be defined by rules set in stone from decades before.

Even though they might not be used as much, I hope all the older entries can
be inserted for consistency.

And thanks to Russell for testing this and reporting back on the results, which
are not that surprising. Although all mine went on ebay again this time around.

As I’ve said, we’re not talking about a large discrepancy. I do have a single
s/h charge. It’s $4.99 for standard mail for any order size
which is closely related to actual cost on average. Minimum postage is $3.66
plus all associated fees/materials/etc.

And I would say that is fine, adding on a dollar or so for additional costs is
reasonable. And I imagine most buyers here would agree with that. I can see that
is the case, as a huge majority of your customers don't mention it, but one
has.

What you are proposing would ban that user from leaving poor feedback about shipping
costs. However, it wouldn't just ban users where the additional costs are
not too severe, but it would also ban users from leaving poor feedback where
the shipping costs have been massively inflated at the checkout for profit rather
than be based on realistic costs.

Remember not everyone knows the sizes of parcels, the cost structures of international
postal companies based on weight and size, the weight of the packaging a seller
is using, and so on. Sellers need to be believed that they are selecting the
right postal service for a package and are charging honestly for it. If buyers
cannot leave feedback about postage costs just because they already agreed to
them up front, then I imagine it would be abused. Sellers could make out a parcel
is large, charge for a high shipping band, then send it via a cheaper one and
tell the buyer they agreed to it so they cannot complain.

I prefer a feedback structure where sellers can be outed if they do wrong, even
if it means one person every so often complains about something when they probably
shouldn't have.

Does one neutral feedback in a few hundred damage a seller? No.

Does stopping buyers from commenting on whether they think someone is a fair
seller damage the marketplace? Yes.

I must agree with what the others have said... you see what you pay, you can
agree or disagree. I don't see why your stance would shift from agree to
disagree if you found out that what you paid was spent relatively less on postage
and more handling than you had imagined.

Out of interest, would you buy from them again knowing they overcharge for postage?

Why would it be necessary to explain to the customer my individual expenditures?
For example, does amazon need to justify what they charge for shipping?

You do know what it will cost to post, it’s the number in the shipping cost box
at checkout. The buyer doesn’t determine what is or isn’t the cost associated
with a purchase, they simply agree or not. It’s not the customers right to decide
what my real costs are as a seller as they don’t pay my bills (literally not
indirectly). Not knowing the real costs of the seller is not the same as being
conned.

You are not amazon though. Most sellers here charge reasonable postage charges
and most buyers can accept that if a seller says it is going to cost $X to post
it will cost that. Some charge exact shipping, some charge a little more. I don't
think anyone really cares about the small incidental expenses.

Imagine there are three postage bands for the weight of the item you have purchased,
one costing £2.95, one £5.05 and the last one £12.12, and the cost depends on
the size of the item. I use these as they are real examples here, but of course
it is complicated in that other options are available. But you don't know
the size of the item. Now if the seller tells you it will cost £14 to post, it
seems to the buyer that this is going to have to go as a large parcel, with a
little extra to cover incidental costs. So they argree and pay. Then when it
arrives, the buyer can see that the seller was able to use the £2.95 band, the
extra was there as profit for the seller. You agreed to the postage costs upfront,
so you cannot complain that the seller overcharges for postage. How do you feel
when you realise the seller quotes based on something that looks like the top
band for large parcels, then uses a lower one for smaller parcels?

Would you prefer for buyers to contact you before ordering and ask why the postage
is so high, for what the buyer thinks should be a small parcel, but you are being
charged a large parcel?

That the cost of the label and not
a penny more is all that is reasonable to be charged for an item. There are so
many costs associated with a purchase that it doesn’t make sense to me to individually
itemize everything on a per transaction basis and rather just roll it all into
a single s/h charge.

I don't think that is the case. Reasonable expenses are fine.

I prefer to see a single S+H charge but it should be related to what it costs
to post.

the purchase with the costs known up front. Also, if invoicing and the shipping
and handling charges are clear in the terms tab, it should also be removable.

I’d really like to see a change made to the feedback policy that allows for removal
of feedback when the purchase is made through the Instant Checkout function.
It’s not reasonable to allow a buyer to damage the reputation of a seller for
something the buyer agreed to.

I'm underwhelmed with the support from BrickLink as far as feedback is concerned.
If the buyer or seller can show that they are completely without fault BrickLink
should be able to remove feedback that is unwarranted.

Just because a buyer agrees to something, it does not neccessarily mean he/she
loves it.

Just because buyer or seller is not at fault it does not mean a transaction is
neccessarily positive.

Robert

It still doesn’t warrant damaging the reputation of the seller. The buyer didn’t
“not love it” enough to go to another seller or not make the purchase. It’s an
agreed upon thing. It wasn’t a lack of service or any justifiable reason.

So would you tell the buyer upfront that the "postage" charge is broken down
into $1 for this, $1 for that, and another $2 for this, and so on? So that they
know you are adding lots of other charges into it.

Sometimes I don't know what something will cost to post, as I don't have
it in hand. If a seller tells me it is going to cost what a large parcel costs
to post, I assume it is a large parcel and agree to it. If it later turns out
it wasn't a large parcel and was posted for a much lower price then I feel
conned that I was overcharged for postage, even though I agreed to it. Leaving
feedback saying this in that case is justifiable.

It depends. If a seller charges $10 for postage through IC then it turns out
the actual cost was $2, I'd be pretty annoyed and would leave feedback reflecting
that. In that case the seller is not without fault, so why should the buyer have
their feedback removed in that case?

Because the buyer knew the cost of postage when he ordered. If he didn’t like
it he shouldn’t have continued with the order.

(By the way, we are totally against instant check out!)

Of course the customer accepted that would be the cost for postage, but then
later found out it was not true and that the seller is overcharging for postage
via IC. Should other buyers be warned about that? In my view, yes.

No warning is necessary through feedback as that information is available at
checkout. We’re all adults here and should be capable of making sound decisions
on our own. Additionally, I’d say the “actual” cost is rarely the actual cost.
The label may have cost $2, the baseline price is closer to $3.50 for USPS first
class, but there are certainly many more considerations when calculating shipping
(cost of materials, labels, tape, box or envelope, fuel and time to drop it off
(if I live 30mins from a post office my real costs may be higher than yours if
you’re close to a drop off)). Yes, $10 for shipping on a $2 label would probably
be excessive but we’re not talking about excessive here, nor should it matter
since it was what was agreed on with the buyer. Any poor feedback left is just
unreasonable.

Just because you are told something up front doesn't mean you shouldn't
comment on it.

For example, sellers often say something along the lines of "New doesn't
mean mint, new parts may have scratches" in their terms. If a seller sends out
heavily scratched new parts, should the buyer be allowed to comment via feedback?
After all, they agreed that parts may be scratched when they placed the order.

areas where the average prices must be deduced from scanning listings or sold

It is a shame that the site cannot do something and step in and help sellers

+1

It's about time!

Here you go. Let's try it out.

Set No: 41775 Name: Character, Unikitty!, Series 1 (Complete Random Set of 1 Character)
*
41775-1 (Inv) Character, Unikitty!, Series 1 (Complete Random Set of 1 Character)
1 Set, 2018
Sets: Unikitty!: Unikitty! Series 1

Set No: 41775 Name: Character, Unikitty!, Series 1 (Complete Series of 12 Complete Character Sets)
*
41775-2 (Inv) Character, Unikitty!, Series 1 (Complete Series of 12 Complete Character Sets)
12 Sets, 2018
Sets: Unikitty!: Unikitty! Series 1

Let me know if you think the random one needs a big question mark placed over
it. If people like this entry and use it, we'll go ahead and add the others.

Isn't there a better way to reword these types of entries?

"Complete Random Set of 1 Minifigure"

This wording still seems confusing. Even if "Complete Set of 1 Random Minifigure"
it would make more sense. But I would think using "complete" makes it confusing
for the most part.

Personally, I would go for something along the lines of:

41775-1 Minifigure, Unikitty!, Series 1 (1 Random Set = 1 Random Character)

and

41775-2 Minifigure, Unikitty!, Series 1 (1 Complete Series of 12 Sets = 12 Characters)

However, I think the images chosen for these are fine and show what is needed.

Hi Russell,

Thanks for responding and doing something about it so quickly!

However, it might be better tested on a new series and possibly a more traditional
/ popular one too, so could it also be done for TLM2 series once it comes out.

When it comes to organizing or perhaps just displaying heads, I'd prefer
to see one change more than any other: show both/all stud types together. So
if someone clicks on the inventory of a minifigure, and then on the head, they
are shown all stud variants of that head print. It could be done that you need
to turn on all variants with a click-box if the default is just the one in the
catalogue, or turn off if on is the default and you want only the variant as
entered in the catalogue.

For many people, stud types don't matter. However, checking to see if other
stud types are available and what their cost is is a real faff.

Similarly, it should work for wants lists too.

If the item is big enough for it's weight to be unique, I would think that
typically the element ID is molded somewhere on there large enough to see and
read without too much effort and type in to easily find with the search bar.

With a 1/100th-gram scale, lego pieces have very unique weights. Sure a dozen
pieces might have the same weight but it's easy to spot the one your holding
in your hand by looking at the results. I've weighed many bricks and have
not seen variations based on color. Some of the really old bricks vary from mold
to mold. But I don't get to many of those anyways. Usually, a single brick
type will only vary a few hundredths of a gram.

I've seen some variations on a decent scale if you take say 10 different
coloured 2x4 bricks. But then there is a similar variation if you weigh 10 of
the same colour ones. This is the problem when it is said that different colours
have different weights.

If you weigh 1 red brick and 1 blue brick, they might weigh a slightly different
amount, lets say red was heavier. That wouldn't mean all red bricks weigh
more than all blue bricks, for example. Just that the red one was taken from
the heavier end of the weight distribution and the blue from the lighter end.

So if you weigh 1000 red bricks and 1000 blue bricks, the difference between
the piles would not be 1000x(random red one - random blue one).

Nope, we are definitely not against this.

In fact, the Inventory Admins now require a new sealed set to be used for any
inventory that is less than one year old. This decision was made while Robert
and Marek were the Inventory Admins. That is why I mentioned that Marek and I
would have caught these errors during the inventory process even if Robert had
missed them at the catalog stage.

Well that is good news. It shoudln't be about getting your name on most inventories
but getting it right first time, or as close as possible to first time. It should
be the same for minifigures and their pictures and inventories too.

Your conclusion that it is 'a time-crunching labour-of-love process of comparing
part quantities currently for sales vs. sold in the last 6 months' is probably
right. Items sold versus available is a much more reliable source of information
than the wanted lists which are mostly shielded for privacy.

Also just because a part sells in large numbers doesn't mean it is necessarily
a good part to stock. It depends what the buy-in vs sale price is.

And even the current stock to items sold ratio might not be so good to look at,
take a fictitious example:

Part A: 0 currently on BL, 10 sold in 6 months.

Part B: 100000 on BL, 20000 sold in 6 months.

A would be ranked highly as currently understocked (they all sold!) whereas for
B there is currently 5x 6 months stock unsold so quite overstocked. But would
you buy into part B, when the sales are actually low?

There would be so many of these to sort through, unless you could set other parameters
such as minimum numbers sold and so on. Even better if you can restrict it to
specific regions too.

It does not seem pointless to me. If you want to complete a Ninjago spinner set
from the original era of Ninjago with all original parts, you will want the boat
stud that was made in China with item number 93791 and not item number 2654.

OK, but doesn't that hold for many part variations for older sets? These
parts look identical apart from the code number, don't they? Whereas there
are many variations of the good old 1x4 or 2x4 brick that don't get entries
or notes. There is no mention at all for the 1x4 brick, for example, that the
underneaths may have solid or holed rods, or cross supports, and so on.

So have the notes added to the parts you would like more information on just
like I had that note added to the boat stud back in the day. Easy peasy.

The item number 93791 on some boat studs is *very* specific to a certain time
and place of manufacture unlike the overwhelming majority of parts, and I thought
the information was beneficial to add before it got lost to the sands of time.

Getting rid of good knowledge for the sake of getting rid of it is unnecessary.
In fact, my general argument for BrickLink as a whole was always to get as much
information as possible into the system from the huge amount of LEGO knowledge
that frequents this site regularly.

Cheers,
Randy

So wouldn't the information about which LEGO-issued number boat stud be better
placed in the notes for those specific sets? After all, if I look at those sets,
there is nothing in the set notes to tell me that and there is nothing in the
inventory to tell me that. It is only if you look in the notes for each individual
part that this would ever be highlighted.

It does not seem pointless to me. If you want to complete a Ninjago spinner set
from the original era of Ninjago with all original parts, you will want the boat
stud that was made in China with item number 93791 and not item number 2654.

Cheers,

OK, but doesn't that hold for many part variations for older sets? These
parts look identical apart from the code number, don't they? Whereas there
are many variations of the good old 1x4 or 2x4 brick that don't get entries
or notes. There is no mention at all for the 1x4 brick, for example, that the
underneaths may have solid or holed rods, or cross supports, and so on.

It should probably not be mandatory to write something, positive or negative
should be enough and the option to write a message if one wants to.

Feedback really helps the seller, and is a nice gesture after an enjoyable transaction.

I don't think leaving a comment is the problem here - currently you can leave
a positive feedback with "OK". If people aren't going to leave feedback,
they aren't going to leave it, even if the message bit is optional.

In fact, I think it should be mandatory to leave a statement in the case of negative
or neutral. Other customers should be told why there was a problem - just seeing
a negative with no explanation helps nobody.

I would like to see the possibility of creating a coupon which is valid for all
buyers. Right now this is only limited to a certain username.

Just do a discount on prices instead.

Can we do anything about the fact that searching "mtron" and "m tron" bring up
different results?

Well the first thing to do would be to standardize the term "M:Tron" in the entire
catalog so that the searches were more consistent. Thus, all of the items that
currently come up with a search for "mtron" should have "M:Tron" in their names
instead of "MTron". That would go a long way towards solving this first problem.

I will submit change requests to get this started.

Also the search engine doesn't recognize apostrophes. Like I can search "Emma
house" but "Emma's house" give me an error message.

This one has definitely always bothered me.

Cheers,
Randy

Me too.

I wish all punctuation was removed for searches. My claim to fame was getting
Palantir added to the Palantír entry. I failed to get non accented versions of
the names in FEB though.

It has been sometime I am thinking about this one:
Does opening the screws (located on the top) and removing the motor housing in
order to check the production date make this old motors used? (these motors were
not sealed in any way, so opening the motor is very easy: one only need to open
the screws)

Part No: x469b Name: Electric, Motor 4.5V Type C 12 x 4 x 3 1/3 (Train)
*
x469b (Inv) Electric, Motor 4.5V Type C 12 x 4 x 3 1/3 (Train)
Parts: Electric, Motor

I'd say used, as there is the possibility of damage when opening it. Of course,
you could test it by applynig power to it, but that makes it used. There will
also be minor wear on the screws, just like clicking two bricks together and
unclicking them causes wear and makes them used.

You assembled the parts. That's literally the definition of what makes them
used (previously assembled). You can't build a set and then sell it as 'new,
only assembled once'. There was a big argument a few years ago about whether
stacking bricks/plates at the Pick-A-Brick wall made them 'used' instead
of 'new' (my opinion is yes). There's also the argument that minifigs
can't be sold as 'new' if they are assembled (I'm on the fence
about this one).

Just to correct that, the argument about minifigures is can a seller assemble
them and still call them new. There is no argument about can a minifigure be
new if it is assembled - the answer is clearly yes, as in some cases LEGO sells
assembled minifigures and by definition those assembled minifigures can be new
as that is how they were sold.

And anyone can change the interpretation (and minifigs) to better represent their
own situation.

Although they cannot sell it as a boy as depicted on the box, unless listed as
a custom minifig. No doubt in time people will wonder which minifigure they have
and not be able to match up the boy version with a minifigure in the catalogue.

I don't see the point of the "pattern" in the title anyway.

If everything in a decorated category has pattern in the title, it becomes useless
for searching if you restrict searches to that category.

I'd prefer that space was taken up with information about how the pattern
is made: sticker, print, dual mould. Of course, that would be better as tags
but if we cannot have those, they should be in the title.

I think the easiest distinction would be between specially-molded figures and
brick-built figures - this would remove having a separate item type for character
figures. Does that sound right?

Yes, I think so. It would make finding things much easier if you have something
unidentified in a job lot. [This next bit is assuming that new figures types
are incorporated into the catalogue.] And that is what, to me, the catalogue
should be there for. If you know what something is or what set it came from,
it is easy to find no matter how bad the catalogue is. Whereas if you don't
know what a part (or figure) is, you should be able to follow the (hopefully
written down) definitions of different figure types and work out at least what
category it is, before looking through the entries.

BTW, did you see that I made the pictures bigger and added little frames around
each photo? I thought it looked better.

Yes, each iteration is an improvement!

Until then, I hope you are able to somehow locate the ability to be pleased that
I volunteered my time to make a list in the first place.

And yes, I am pleased that someone with at least a little power has started this.
The whole catalogue is a bit of a mess since it is so rigid, but the Minifigures
category in particular has started to be full of inconsistencies (either what
is in or what is out) since it has not moved with the times.

A number of mere mortals have flagged up many inconsistencies in the past, and
normally all are shot down as "the catalog doesn't work like that". When
really the catalog should work for the users, not work based on decade old unwritten
rules.

I do appreciate your feedback and you can see that I incorporated some of it
into the page, but again, these are not category definitions. They change nothing
in the catalog. We haven't the ability to sort figures by what type they
are. If we ever do have that ability, then we can have a serious discussion.

Is this not the first step in that process, even if being done unofficially?
If these become accepted Bricklink definitions, then there would clearly be a
hangover from this list into any new sorting of figures. If it is not the first
step, then what is the point of this page? You said it could move into the Catalog
Help Center. It is showing people how to define or classify many different types
of figures, but if these terms cannot be used on bricklink to find what someone
is after, how does it actually help? If anything it will be confusing to tell
people that such and such is a XXX type of figure, then XXX is not used anywhere
else on BL.

I have read your suggestions, took them to heart, and updated the page:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=88

I added three new types close to the beginning and added a disclaimer that this
is only an experimental project. The purpose of the framework on that page is
to gauge desirability. If members want to keep this list and BrickLink agrees
to keep it, then it will be improved with better descriptions, better photos,
and better ordering of the entries on the list (possibly by chronological order?).

It is definitely looking a lot better. Although this one still confuses me:

Minifigure-Scale Character Figure - This is a minifigure-scale character figure.
The BrickLink catalog includes a number of unconventional figures like this.
Rick from the Unikitty! theme, for example, is a single 2 x 3 brick with a printed
face.

Will this contain all minifigure-scale character figures? Angry Birds are understandable.
But what about Scooby Doo and Santa's Little Helper, and other similar characters.
Are they animals or figures? After all, Angry Birds are birds, which are animals.
Cartoon animals that are characters. Just like Scooby Doo and Sant's Little
Helper are cartoon dogs.

Minifigure-Scale Brick Built Figure - This is a minifigure-scale brick built
figure. There are an array of different styles and sizes of figures in various
themes.

As above, do brick built animals like TLM snail go in here (presumably Unikitty
will). Also Rick from Unikitty! is mentioned above as a minifigure scale character
figure. I would have thought he has more in common with Unikitty than with Angry
Birds, as he is made out of standard LEGO bricks (it just happens to be one brick)
rather than an unconventional molded part.

It will also lead to inconsistencies, as for example, these two will be in different
categories:

Minifig No: uni11 Name: Rick (6223895)
*
uni11 Rick (6223895)
Minifigures: Unikitty!

Minifig No: uni26 Name: Rick with Stand
*
uni26 (Inv) Rick with Stand
Minifigures: Unikitty!

The first has already been defined as above to be a Minifigure-Scale Character
Figure, yet the second is clearly brick built so must be a Minifigure-Scale Brick
Built Figure.

This is why I think the definitions of each category need to be considered carefully
so that inconsistencies do not appear.
