They are an exception, only "orphaned" parts were added to this inventory as
alternates, see here

Brickset has the part total listed as 3096, but that could be wrong. Also, Stefaan
checked the set against sealed set contents but only made one change (to add
an alternate). Hmmmm...

I bought this box here on BL when the auctions were still alive (was in 2008).
I did a part out (all parts in my set no longer the old grey but the new grey),
got a lot of work ~never understood why no 10030-2 was created with the new grey~

Wasn't it the case that there were found copies of this set with mixed colors
in seald set. That could be the reason. (The note says about it)

What about part count in this set can you comment it? These levers count, pins,
extras etc.?

Yes, there was also a mix with the old and new grey (but my set came with the
new grey (for dark and light).
Can't help with the part count/levers count, pins etc... only a few parts
from this set in my stockroom (like the blue inverted slops )
But why were (a few) LBG parts added as alternate parts?

You actually added those as extras back in 2009. Are you sure I should get rid
of them? This set seems to be right at the transition time for these parts from
what I am finding, so maybe your set did not have them on sprue.
There are two versions of this set, one with the large Octan sticker (shown in
the unboxing link I posted) and one without. Maybe yours is the one without,
and the version without that sticker had no sprues. If so, I would like to set
up alternates.
Any help with this would be appreciated.

Right, my set is the without 'Octan' sticker.
Just checked my set, was build up straight from the MISB and never broken down.
Found in the box the used stickersheet (165345), the plastic bag and the catalog
109883-EU-OS (from 1993).
When I build up this set I leave also a small note with this info:
extra parts:
* 1x Trans-Light Blue Minifigure Visor (2447)
* 1x Black Plate, Round 1 x 1 (4073)
* 1x Trans-Yellow Plate, Round 1 x 1 (4073)
I can not remember this set came with the 4073 on sprue. The 4073 are like they
came on a sprue. But think they came already factory separated.
My set came with the 2412b.

So according to your information and the unboxing from the link in this thread,
there seem to be two versions of the set that break down as follows:
