| Do you want minifigure titles to include set numbers?
Do you find set numbers in minifigure titles useful or can you live without them?
|
No and maybe.
I do not use the set number information in the title of minifigs, however, I
could see a use for the set number being used only when the minifig is unique
to a set. Then removed when the minifig does not become unique to a set. However,
on reflection, I would go with removing the set information completely from the
title.
[StormChaser] writes:

|
Since we are contemplating change the titles en masse, I think it would be a
better time now to agree on a consistent standard. My suggestion would be:
Character-Name
For a minifig of a character unique to the catalog. If the character name is
not known then their occupation or role title would be used.
Character-Name – differentiation
For minifigs of the same character but some differentiation.
Character-Name (Settting) – differentiation
For minifigs of the same character with similar details but from a different
setting (i.e, or different role, or occupation).
[Give.Me.A.Brick] writes:
| I would get rid of connectors like "with" "and" and so on, saving characters in the process.
|
I disagree, I have relied upon the “with” and other prepositions in searches.
The differentiation should use prepositions wisely (in lowercase).
[axaday] writes:
| …batman … Spider-man – spiderman

axaday seems to have put in a lot of thought over this, and I understand the
appeal with keeping it simple, and have duplicate titles. However,
[axaday] writes:
| …they're just going to scroll through the list. Spiderman minifigs are too similar for the detailed descriptions to really matter.
|
… is one approach to using the title, but without the differentiation descriptors
someone else will want to find the minifig quickly and not scroll through a long
list (i.e. axaday’s note on Batman).
[StormChaser] writes:
| but I wouldn't want to remove set numbers and have three figures with the exact same titles.
|
Why? Is three a magical number? There are several minifigs with duplicate titles,
even before removing the set number, these need to be addressed for example:

When a minifig comes up in a set it is added to the catalogue.

|
There are currently (as of writing this message) 88 minifigs marked for deletion.
The additional notes of each minifig catalogue entry will give the reason why
that such minifig is marked for deletion.

| Does anyone know if the Exo-Force comic books (https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=B&catString=331.568)
exist physically?
I was of the understanding that these 'comic books' (Graphic Novels)
were only downloadable from Exo-Force website (a silly marketing mistake in
my opinion). Fans would download them and perhaps print them out and bind
them (told you it was a silly marketing mistake). I am not trying to
imply that this is what has happened here. However, if they are homemade copies,
then I think this would obviously be breaking the Bricklink policy to have them
in the catalog.

Sorry I love idioms and I sometimes like to adulterate them and make my own.
Hence my own mixed version of the "Throw the cat among the pigeons" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Throw_the_cat_among_the_pigeons)
with "Square peg in a round hole" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Square_peg_in_a_round_hole)
and also "Throw a curve ball" (US idiom).
Anyway no animals were harmed during the production of these idioms, I have used
CGI throughout!

Yep agree and understand. I figure (get it?) that if I put up the idea here
and now and let it mellow for a while it may mature and blossom in the future,
like a good wine or a smelly cheese.

| For now we'll begin on the first phase:
adding Technic figure parts. I've updated catalog policy to allow it, but
a question before we begin: anyone have opinions on where these should go?
I believe Large Figure Parts is an appropriate category since it could well be
where other similar parts end up in a later project. Or, we could do a new Technic,
Figure Part category, but this may be unnecessary in the future if we organize
large figure parts as requested by some members and would mean moving these parts.

Currently we have two kinds of head titles that I'm aware of:
Minfig, Head
Minfig, Head Dual Sided
We could add a third type of title such as:
Minfig, Head Dual Printed
|
Is there a need to have "Minfig, Head..." at the start of each title? What about
just "Head...". This convention is used for torso and legs assemblies.

| Reorganizing dual-colored molded arms.
ABSTAIN. I do not sell in this sub-market, and don’t like taking arms out of
torsos.
Adding individual decorated hips and legs.
NO. Disassembling torso assemblies is never a good thing. I remember a wise
person ([axaday]) once said “Legs never are as good once you have take them apart.”
Adding individual Technic figure parts
YES. I do not see any harm in this. I have a technic figure complete except for
a broken shoe/foot, so selfishly I would like this sub-project done.
Changing titles of certain dual-sided heads to reflect this fact and splitting
heads into single-side print and dual-side print categories.
YES. Change the titles of all dual-sided heads.
YES. Normally I would consider changing the title only for this because it would
help searching. However, since there are so many heads splitting the category
also would be beneficial for browsing the catalogue.
Reorganizing/renumbering certain mini doll legs to reflect a change in production
methods.
ABSTAIN. I have no idea what we are talking about here. Are we talking about
the Friends Reboot?
Splitting decorated/non-decorated minifigure legs.
YES. If anyone has an ideal way to compartmentalise their physical inventory
of minifig legs assembly, then please let me know. I have no system and consequently
picking legs assemblies is slower than picking other parts.

| Once again I would first like to congratulate [StormChaser] and the community
on the progress made in the ' (Other) ' Category Project.
I would like to raise my points to a few things in clearing out the ' Gear
(Other) ' category:
[1] Accessory, Human Tool - Rip Cords
The ' Accessory, Human Tool ' category has been created and it blurs
the line between a Part and Gear. I guess we should wait until all part categories
have been properly defined, however, the category has already been created and
rip cords have already been added. Therefore I suggest we move these gear ...
[g=ripcordcover1][g=ripcordcover2]
... as parts in the ' Accessory, Human Tool ' category. Also rename
them
" Human Tool, Rip Cord Handle Cover in Flexible Rubber with Lion Head for Chima
Speedorz "
and
" Human Tool, Rip Cord Handle Cover in Flexible Rubber with Crocodile Head for
Chima Speedorz "
, respectively.
This leaves ...
... which under the Human Tool definition should be sets and not gear.
[2] Accessory, Human Tool - Ruler
For the same reason as above, I suggest we merge the ruler set inventory with
the ruler (see also https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1060834). So merge
...
... into ...
[p=bb342]
So in the same manner gear ...
...should become a set.

parts, since they interact with minifigs and not us humans.
That's all at the moment. I will be interested in your thoughts.
