In my opinion
should be added to this set as alternate only to
Older one with "thin support" is still in many sets from 2011 and even 2012 and
then stops showing. I even have 53989 from 2012 set
8679 is from 2011. So it is very probably that in this sets can both variants
be found.

* For the 53989 to 98313, found 98313 in 2 other Cars sets: 8639 and 9486.
* For the 2453 to 2453b change, the only 2453b I have here @ home (or still MISB sets). That's why I prefer to delete the alternate part.
* For the tap change, no 4599a found in 2011 sets or later, prefer to delete the alternate part.
* Because the MID's 8 and 9 are deleted, just change the 11 and 12 MID's to 8 and 9.

It has been documented. The set inventory has been updated with the changes
you found and an inventory note was added. And yes, it's not too terribly
uncommon. There are over 100 known sets from as recently as last year which
have been redesigned for various reasons while the set was still in production.
I have asked for BrickLink to give us the ability to find these sets in the catalog.
So far, though, nothing has happened with my request.

Then all sellers would left with incomplete minifigs in such inventory changed
minifig listnings. This was also very old set, wrong minifig was long in the
catalog and also more extensive change this was than only change part variant
being already in minifig for example.

Why? Well both minifigs are no longer in any other set. Now we have -a and -b
versions but the 'without -a -b' version is no longer available (already
marked for del.).
That was also my reply on the other inv. ch. req.

These cones are already included in the set inventory and should not be duplicated on the minifig. There are only 2 trans-yellow cones included in the box.

Shouldn't be this whole set inventory of corrected in simillar
way as this one
with complete with backpack
in the inventory?
As it is now neither inventory of set or minifg is correct. Yes you have right
cones are now both in minifig and set.
So the best way in my opinion would be submit whole minifigs with backpack for
this set and delete parts for backpacks from set inventory.

BTW I can correct it, if it need it. I have yellow one, just modify sp053a and
black one I can construct I think

Hi
Both red cones need to be deleted in the inventory and add to the minifig
[m=sp053] because this one doesn't have them in the inv. like the black one.
The cones are good visible on the instructions. (the yellow ones on the black
minifig, the red ones on the yellow minifig)
Then we have an inv. like minifigs as and with a lot of
extra parts.
(sp053 is only in this set)

Yes it's the open stud one [p=3062b] and .
No partnrs on the parts, no Pat Pend/ -erased items (except that hinge plate),
only mould nrs or nothing on the plates and bricks. Mould pips in the studs.

Here we have the Brazilian box. (pictures from all sides taken in 2011 when I
bought it from a Brazilian seller, already sold a few years ago).
(was also add by my as alternate box image = https://img.bricklink.com/ItemImage/EXTN/2815.png)
On the front the 'piece count'. The back with the same pictures as my
box.
The boxcode = 196103
As you can see the box was sealed with a 'sealed sticker'. Not the same
as we had in Europe.
The instructioncode is the same (EU/BRA) = 120336, only the printer was different.
Still missing info about the USA/CAN? boxcode (think 196101 or 196102) and instructions.

Around that time TLG started operations in Brazil.
No inner tray or inner box for that box format. Have more boxes from that format
example 6690-6691-6692 etc...

erased only on the base and red pivot.
The lights assembled [p=4073c01]
The minifig torso came at those days with the head assembled. (torso is the 2nd
type with the small teeth)
The helmet is the thin chin strap type.
etc... etc... etc...
The change in 2011 is from my childhood collection. At that time (in 2011) I
did a lot of inv. changes.
I received this set 6881 (and set 6880) in December 1984, from my uncle (who
passed away last month) for 'Saint Nicholas'.
The white parts are now yellowed, the only white cone I had in my collection.
