In my opinion it is neither color, certainly the 2853s seem to be between the
two (as previously mentioned, improperly dyed yellow). I have found one other
part so far that is similar, which are yellow technic axles. I think a note to
let shoppers know about the issue is necessary, since those looking to complete
older models will be in for a surprise.
Additionally, the 3 or so sets that have been inventoried with the part in BLO,
may be erroneous as whoever did that inventory may have interpreted the crankshaft
as being BLO when really it is neither yellow nor BLO. However it is the "soft"
matte plastic type, which tends to run a bit light in general, so I would be
more inclined to place it in the BLO category, and have listed it as such, until
I see evidence of a true BLO crankshaft.
But NONE of the 120+ crankshafts we have pulled are actually yellow, the only
yellow examples I have found were present in some early 1990s-era display models
we have collected.

The color of those parts is not Bright Light Orange. They are a poorly dyed variation
of Yellow that approaches the color of Bright Light Orange. LEGO shows that this
part was always made in Yellow and not Bright Light Orange. The inventories here
should be corrected to make sure they are all listed as Yellow. Each seller can
then list that their supply of them is not the typical Yellow, but the darker
variation.

Since when does TLG's assessment of color factor in to the inventory status
on BrickLink? If that were the case DBG LBG and RB would not exist as colors.
I agree that what you're saying is the way it is, currently. What I do not
agree with is why. Why should every seller list their supply as not being typical
yellow, when that is the case 100% of the time (at least for 2014-2018 era sets
we have inventoried).
I made this post because I believe there should be a note on the part page to
address this. There are several sets which do supposedly include this part in
BLO, and so I would ask you, do those sets actually contain a part which is markedly
different than the Yellow ones we have pulled out of sets?
As an aside, there are far more frivolous notations (as the notations present
with part 3626b, for example). It is my belief that the c-admins are unaware
of this issue, so I am bringing it to their attention. I highly doubt the ideal
solution is what you say it is. This part is not yellow, period. And there are
a lot of variations with the color Yellow, true, but this is not one of them.

It has been documented. The set inventory has been updated with the changes
you found and an inventory note was added. And yes, it's not too terribly
uncommon. There are over 100 known sets from as recently as last year which
have been redesigned for various reasons while the set was still in production.
I have asked for BrickLink to give us the ability to find these sets in the catalog.
So far, though, nothing has happened with my request.

Interesting looks like in all inventories where "99" MID is used in this new
inventory page is is change to "1" MID. Checked only few from this list
https://brickset.com/sets/list-18333 for example
The same sitation as you described it.

Only 4 part #4515 are needed to complete the build for this set. This set came
with optional stickers in case you have more than one and want to display them
together but have them be distinctive. I found the following at brickset;
"Take the battle to the Separatists with the Republic Attack Gunship! This heavily
armed and armored Clone Wars troop carrier can fly and land in any battlefield
or hostile terrain. Features include opening troop bay doors, removable command
station and healing chamber, positionable cannons, spy droids, flick missiles,
a speeder bike that deploys from the back, and multiple decals to create different
gunships for your army. But will even Obi-Wan Kenobi and Plo Koon be enough
to stop the sinister Asajj Ventress and her double Sith lightsabers? Includes
Obi-Wan Kenobi, Plo Koon, Asajj Ventress, Commander Cody and Clone Trooper minifigures!
Side troop bay doors open! Open the front side compartment to remove the command
station! The 2 cockpits in front and the 2 on the wings open! Features 8 positionable
flick-fire missiles on top and 2 rotating missiles in front! Back hatch opens
to deploy the speeder bike! Open the compartment on top to access the spy droids!
Measures 14" (36cm) long, 17" (43cm) wide and 7" (18cm) high"
If I were building this for myself I would get an extra pair of 4515's and
apply the extra stickers for easier storage.

Yes, strange, 4 plain slopes in the Regular section but 6 stickered slopes in
the Counterpart section.
The instructions say 4. But stickers just magically appear and p038 doesn’t
seem to be used.
I’d say you can choose which pair of stickers to apply on the front?

For now, they are handled with the special Alternate group 99:
— add the Match ID 99 to the Regular parts that change¹ or that you don’t have
in your version,
— add the parts that change¹ or that are only in your version as Alternate with
a Match ID of 99,
— add a note.
(¹ If it’s just the quantity of a part that changes, the part is both present
as Regular and Alternate with different quantities.)
E.g. Wall-E has two versions, the neck having been made more stable

I was rebuilding my 6386 (Police Command Station) set yesterday and to make sure
I had all the pieces I consulted the inventory. While building the model, I realised
that the inventory was not accurate and started double checking everything once
again. To my surprise, I had all the pieces listed on Bricklink but I just couldn't
complete the helicopter.
So I spent another hour trying to figure this out and I finally found out

telling me to use different pieces.

3003old is an odd duck if you ask me. 3002old and 3001old do not have Inside
Supports mentioned in the name but they do exist with Inside Supports (at least
3001old does). 3003 however does not exist without Cross Supports, still they
created a 3003old as if it were somehow similar as 3002old and 3001old but it
is not. I have missed the creation of 3003old so there might be a perfectly valid
reason for it but imo so far it creates more confusion, as can be noted with
your question as example.
On the other hand, it is hardly doable to be complete on this matter. More differences
do exist and differences combinations as well. Where does it end?
Interesting to learn the answer too
