I use a MAC and I find the frames and text are a bit too thin... Can hardly see
them especially when viewing the screen at an angle. Its all a bit of a blur!!
(I always stand next to my partner when picking orders, so am looking from an
angle).

The colours do help a bit. That's a nice touch that has been there for a while
when viewed on the iPhone.

Maybe the text in Bold please!! (pending, paid, shipped, etc... )

... just MyTwoPence Bricks ...

Am I missing something? I don't see any change on the orders page, both placed

Maybe it because it's on a MAC, rather than a PC?

I see no difference, other than the new catalogue display when looking at parts...

This would be a really good time for you to be aware that, in all of my years
of 'playing' with LEGO, I have NEVER found a counterfeit set, with the
LEGO logo present on the studs, or even down to the seals on the packaging.

Yes, there are cases of sets being re-produced by the other CLONE brands (LEPIN),
but even they don't have the LEGO logo on the studs...

Which is why I suspect that you have been mis-led about the YouTube videos of
the box seals etc, purely due to the fact that the LEGO group has so many factories
around the world, all contributing to the production of the LEGO that we all
love.

Yes, there are cases of the slight differences between bricks/parts, which are
either production changes (Modified plates come to mind here), or are actual
quality control issues.

LEGO produced these days are of a slightly lighter/softer feel than those produced
10-40 years ago, again, a change done by the LEGO group, because they changed
the way that the plastic is used within the production of the LEGO parts...

I do believe that the Star Wars set that you have IS a genuine set, but because
you are probably remembering how LEGO had their sets when you were a kid, your
experience is saying that the LEGO you are now handing is 'inferior',
and therefore 'fake', but is actually the genuine article.....

Paul

Agree. I still don't understand the new BL's love for contrasting white
with extremely light gray. This applies to set inventories, part-outs, etc. as
well. It's hard to enough to sell Lego just having to figure out Light Gray,
Light Bluish Gray, Pearl Light Gray, Flat Silver...!

I can see each order without any issues.

Maybe you could change the contrast on your computer screen?

Paul

I cant see the difference in colours on mine either, id actually completely forgot
they were ever alternate colours, having a tiny store it isnt an issue for me
either.

But I will say this much, even though this one doesnt affect me, user changing
the computer screen contrast is inconvenient if the user has their monitor set
up to specific settings for a particular reason as it would have to be changed
back every time the other reason comes into play.

I personally dont see any harm in making lines available, even if its on an optional
toggle on/off basis from store settings, that way BL can very easily help users
out with no extra fuss

G

I'm beginning to think that this issue is actually limited to certain PC's.

I have a HP TouchSmart 300 PC, and the screen is actually a 20inch LCD one...

Colours are bright and are very noticeable...

Maybe having the ability to change the colour bars when on that particular page
will help?

I don't agree that a seller should be able to modify a listing date.

Aren’t sellers already able to do that by removing the lot then creating a new
one?

We can, but it takes time, and if I have the sheer amount that I have listed,
then it's a heck of a time consuming thing to do, so it's not feasible.

I do agree that the listing date does not need to be shown on the buyer's
WL data though.

Yes, I don’t see what it could be good for as it adds no information for the
buyer. (The lot may be old but the parts just added, or vice versa.)

Exactly what I am trying to convey, because such a showing of that data does
tend to imply that a part has been 'unsold' within my store since that
date, and I'm not adding more stuff, where in fact I have been.

The data should be updated to show when the listing of the part was 'added
to' with more stock, rather than having new notifications being sent each
time a store's inventory gets 'churned', which doesn't give a
proper level playing field.

(I've not used BrickStock or anything else like it, so for anyone to suggest
that I should do that, doesn't help as it means that more of my time is wasted)

and you will see the date that item was 'added' to the store.

Hi.

Is there any real reason WHY the date is shown when an item is listed within
a stores' inventory?

I've kept the option on when I've sold out of an item, it's retained
within my store's inventory, so that when I add more stuff, I know that of
the 2 listings that I have for that particular item (used and new), the USED
listing is always above the new, ensuring that I don't add used stock to
the NEW listing.

I can't understand why this option is there, but it does seem strange, because
when I'd first listed an item within my inventory 4 years ago, and have since
added more of that kind in the years between then and now, but to a Newbie buyer,
it will give the impression that my NEW stock is 4-6 years old, whereas it could
actually be 2 days old!

Can this feature be given the option of being updateable when new stock is actually
added to the retained listing?

Regards,

Paul

  Hi,
I do not know if this has been posted before, but here is my question:

I am parting out some nice used sets, some of which have stickered parts. As
one can find, when looking up a particular set in the catalog, these stickered
parts are listed down below under counterparts (or something like that).

Wouldn't it be helpful if these stickered counterparts also appeared in the
(parting out) list when parting out USED sets with stickered parts?

It would make parting out so much easier/quicker and you can easily check if
the stickers are applied correctly.

Like to hear your thoughts!

Tanja

I have also posted about this in the past. It would be great to have the option
of adding the stickered parts when parting out. I agree it would be easier and
much quicker.

I too have said this, but I got brushed off, by the Site's admins claiming
that due to not ALL of the sets will have the stickered counterparts added, it
is easier not to allow this to happen.

But surely, once a set HAS been verified (twice) by the set verifiers, this can
be implemented ONLY for the sets that have ALL of the stickered counterparts?

I would love to have this feature implemented, as I am always parting out used
sets, as I can't always be bothered to try and complete a set that is approx
50% complete.

Regards,

Paul

Hi all.

When anyone looks in a store, and selects a certain part, there is in small grey
letters, showing the date that particular item was added to the store's inventory,
but as I have selected the option of having the particular item(s) 'retained'
within my inventory after it has been sold out, I would like to have this feature
removed as it makes it look as if a store is not adding any recent stock, which
is not entirely accurate.

I can see your point in this, but please understand that not ALL postal services
are geared the same way as the US's

Here in the UK, we can purchase "Track and Trace" on top of the normal shipping
cost, and this often enables packages/post get delivered the next day.

The size of the UK enables this to happen, and I am aware that the size of the
US doesn't allow for that service to happen.

Am I right in understanding that the US's postal service provides "Tracking"
on postage bought on-line?

Maybe your suggestion would be amended to be that instead of 'insurance',
the Tracking service should be provided instead?

Paul

Hi Paul. Tracking is different and not affected by this suggestion. Nowadays,
almost everything in the USA has tracking. And tracking is being offered on
more international parcels too.

So, to address your concern, this suggestion will not affect your ability to
offer tracking in the UK. That is something completely different.

Thor

Right, so if Tracking is now commonplace for most of the US's packages, is
this an extra cost added to the standard shipping cost?

According to the Royal Mail's website, all of the UK's post is automatically
covered to a maximum cost of £20, and the Tracking service that we can buy will
allow it to be increased to £50 (If I am reading this right)

So, why not do-away with the 'insurance' request, and offer the Tracking
option, as I am sure that European postal services don't offer free tracking,
and that is an extra that we have to pay for.

Besides, how the heck are we in the UK, able to find a 3rd party insurer to cover
a package that might not get lost?

(I've never even thought about finding one for myself as I've used the
Royal Mail's service)

When a buyer marks the BrickLink check box requesting insurance, please require
that sellers state in their terms and a drop-down box on checkout whether they
purchase that insurance from a reputable 3rd party insurer or provide their own
"self-insurance".

Self-insurance is fine, particularly on smaller orders. But when buyers place
large orders, request and pay extra for insurance, most buyers naturally expect
that insurance to be provided by an actual 3rd party insurance company rather
than the seller. If the seller chooses to self-insure, buyers should at least
know this because it may affect their decision on whether to place an order with
such seller, the size of the order they place and whether they wish to ask the
seller to purchase third party insurance instead (at the buyer's expense).

This has nothing to do with trusting one's seller. It has to do with providing
full disclosure and assurance to buyers that there is sufficient financial backing
and uniform published procedures in place to cover their order if something goes
wrong.

Some buyers won't mind the seller self-insuring. Some buyers prefer that
insurance be provided from an independent professional outside source. Give
this information to buyers and let buyers decide what is best for them.

Paul

It is Not a level of quality. It is simply new vs. used. applying your justification
of listing a box as new because of it's quality is the same as listing like
new Used bricks as new.

Let me make it quite clear, right here and now, I have never sold any LEGO that
has been used even once as new, because this is against my ethos.

You didn't even accept the fact my suggestion would do away with the NEW
v's USED debate, as every seller of LEGO understands, there are a few levels
of 'used' when it comes to LEGO, and we all know, chewed, bitten and
yellowed LEGO is not acceptable or even fit enough to be sold as used, except
for use as 'filler' material in building up large landscapes.

My suggestion was this, REMOVE the 'new' listing, and add several levels
of 'used' for the set boxes ONLY.

That way, you will be happy, a few 'original' box sellers will be happy
as they will be able to classify what level of quality their box is in, and the
buyers will be able to judge for them selves.

Paul

I would like to suggest that the NEW classification for empty boxes be removed.
They just do not exist (maybe on an extremely rare occasion) but people still
keep listing them as new. For the people who think they are correct in listing
as new I challenge you to answer this question. What was used to contain the
particular Lego set you parted out ? Hint..... it was the box. It was USED for
a purpose.. Looking at the price guide it seems like people buy the incorrectly
listed as new more often than the honestly listed boxes. I just feel it is an
unfair advantage for those who are misleading with their new designation.

Ed

I can understand your opinion on this matter, however, I have a few boxes that
have been 'used' as you call it, but the quality of them is far superior
than a generally accepted 'used' one would be.

For example, I buy a opened, built, and displayed Atlantis set at my local car
boot sale last year, and while the set is in a good quality condition, the box
has numerous creases from being in the bottom of the pile in the shed/under the
bed/cupboard, I'd call that box as used, because it is NOT in a pristine
condition.

However, I have, in my un-sorted/unlisted/back-up stock, the same set, still
sealed, and so, when I get round to parting it out, I'd open it in a manner
that would ensure that it could be displayed without the obvious signs of being
opened, and yet, the condition of the box is the same as it was when it left
the factory 5 years ago. (still new in my opinion)

I think what you will need to do is to request that the cat admins have several
levels of box quality available when listing the 'original' box within
someone's inventory.

Maybe this will help to ensure that the correct levels of box quality are being
sold under?

It's not BRICKLINK that has been 'wrong', but it is usually LEGO
swapping parts in production for elements that are slightly different, hence
these requests that people make...

I had to do one the other day for a set that was approx 10 years old.

It's no biggie

Comments from Submitter:
Upon Checking this set as I have one on hand, I noted that this particular part was in mine, and not the 'official' BL inventory one.
I checked with BrickSet, and they have confirmed that the clip should be the thin type, however, I checked the instructions and Peeron and they show the type 1's. hence this request as for the others to be included as 'alternate'

Brickset gets its vintage/alternate inventories from Rebrickable, and it is not
clear how Rebrickable populated their inventories. Some of them, anyway, have
been copied straight from BL:

Set No: 190 Name: Farm Set
*
190-1 (Inv) Farm Set
526 Parts, 1975
Sets: Building Set with People: Farm

Peeron on the other hand, is another situation. Many of their inventories are
from excellent sources (and they actually list the source). But there is no log
with a record of changed filed directly with submitters, so in the case of this
set, it's hard to see whether the person who verified the set consciously
changed the variant to the "a" type. Also, there is evidence that some varaint
data was "cleaned up" after the fact (we do that here on BL, too) but without
a change log, it's hard to be sure what is what.

Since this set is on the edge of the line for this part (1986), I would prefer
a straight change. Another consideration is that even in 2015 some members are
having a hard time distinguishing between the types, even with an excellent large
image showing all 4 variants side by side. So confusion of this part at an earlier
date is to be expected.

Speaking of earlier dates, look at the date the inventory was approved (2003),
but 67 lots were added in 2005 (i.e. the whole inventory). Something fishy is
going on here, and it really makes one wonder what the inventory was like for
the previous 2 years. And then the change in 2006 with the Technic pins is another
issue.

Russell

Hi Russell,

I'm surprised as to that you have actually changed the clip totally when
I can see from my instructions, they are supposed to be the Type 1, and yet when
I looked on Brickset they are the Type 2, along with the ones in my set.

This is why I requested the alternate, as like you said, it was on the edge of
the line for the part (type 1).

I think the issue in regard the pins is that the original submitter probably
didn't realise that there were 2 different types...

Wasn't it changed some time ago, the ability to reserve a set for inventorying
purposes to a limit of 3 days before it was re-set?.

I'm sure I can remember several sets being reserved for approx 4 months before
being submitted?

Please make changes to the following inventory:

Set No: 8640 Name: Polar Copter
*
8640-1 (Inv) Polar Copter
238 Parts, 1 Minifigure, 1986
Sets: Technic: Arctic Technic

* Add 2 Part 4085b Light Gray Plate, Modified 1 x 1 with Clip Vertical - Type 2 (thin U clip) (Alternate)

I'm not sure if this would be implemented or it can be done already, but
as a seller, I like to add stock to my inventory via the catalogue tab.

When the colour guide comes up, it shows the available parts in the colours,
Wanted lists, Price guide and Known colours, and the ones in my inventory underneath
the first column.

I would like to have 'my inventory' above the 'lots for sale'
section as it will save me having to scroll down every time I want to list a
part that I have 'retained when sold out'

I'm sure alot of sellers would agree with me on this?

Paul

(If these can be swapped already, please show me how!)

Has anyone even seen what I am asking?
