I use a MAC and I find the frames and text are a bit too thin... Can hardly see
them especially when viewing the screen at an angle. Its all a bit of a blur!!
(I always stand next to my partner when picking orders, so am looking from an
angle).

The colours do help a bit. That's a nice touch that has been there for a while
when viewed on the iPhone.

Maybe the text in Bold please!! (pending, paid, shipped, etc... )

... just MyTwoPence Bricks ...

Am I missing something? I don't see any change on the orders page, both placed

Maybe it because it's on a MAC, rather than a PC?

I see no difference, other than the new catalogue display when looking at parts...

This would be a really good time for you to be aware that, in all of my years
of 'playing' with LEGO, I have NEVER found a counterfeit set, with the
LEGO logo present on the studs, or even down to the seals on the packaging.

Yes, there are cases of sets being re-produced by the other CLONE brands (LEPIN),
but even they don't have the LEGO logo on the studs...

Which is why I suspect that you have been mis-led about the YouTube videos of
the box seals etc, purely due to the fact that the LEGO group has so many factories
around the world, all contributing to the production of the LEGO that we all
love.

Yes, there are cases of the slight differences between bricks/parts, which are
either production changes (Modified plates come to mind here), or are actual
quality control issues.

LEGO produced these days are of a slightly lighter/softer feel than those produced
10-40 years ago, again, a change done by the LEGO group, because they changed
the way that the plastic is used within the production of the LEGO parts...

I do believe that the Star Wars set that you have IS a genuine set, but because
you are probably remembering how LEGO had their sets when you were a kid, your
experience is saying that the LEGO you are now handing is 'inferior',
and therefore 'fake', but is actually the genuine article.....

Paul

Agree. I still don't understand the new BL's love for contrasting white
with extremely light gray. This applies to set inventories, part-outs, etc. as
well. It's hard to enough to sell Lego just having to figure out Light Gray,
Light Bluish Gray, Pearl Light Gray, Flat Silver...!

I can see each order without any issues.

Maybe you could change the contrast on your computer screen?

Paul

I cant see the difference in colours on mine either, id actually completely forgot
they were ever alternate colours, having a tiny store it isnt an issue for me
either.

But I will say this much, even though this one doesnt affect me, user changing
the computer screen contrast is inconvenient if the user has their monitor set
up to specific settings for a particular reason as it would have to be changed
back every time the other reason comes into play.

I personally dont see any harm in making lines available, even if its on an optional
toggle on/off basis from store settings, that way BL can very easily help users
out with no extra fuss

G

I'm beginning to think that this issue is actually limited to certain PC's.

I have a HP TouchSmart 300 PC, and the screen is actually a 20inch LCD one...

Colours are bright and are very noticeable...

Maybe having the ability to change the colour bars when on that particular page
will help?

I don't agree that a seller should be able to modify a listing date.

Aren’t sellers already able to do that by removing the lot then creating a new
one?

We can, but it takes time, and if I have the sheer amount that I have listed,
then it's a heck of a time consuming thing to do, so it's not feasible.

I do agree that the listing date does not need to be shown on the buyer's
WL data though.

Yes, I don’t see what it could be good for as it adds no information for the
buyer. (The lot may be old but the parts just added, or vice versa.)

Exactly what I am trying to convey, because such a showing of that data does
tend to imply that a part has been 'unsold' within my store since that
date, and I'm not adding more stuff, where in fact I have been.

The data should be updated to show when the listing of the part was 'added
to' with more stock, rather than having new notifications being sent each
time a store's inventory gets 'churned', which doesn't give a
proper level playing field.

(I've not used BrickStock or anything else like it, so for anyone to suggest
that I should do that, doesn't help as it means that more of my time is wasted)

and you will see the date that item was 'added' to the store.

Hi.

Is there any real reason WHY the date is shown when an item is listed within
a stores' inventory?

I've kept the option on when I've sold out of an item, it's retained
within my store's inventory, so that when I add more stuff, I know that of
the 2 listings that I have for that particular item (used and new), the USED
listing is always above the new, ensuring that I don't add used stock to
the NEW listing.

I can't understand why this option is there, but it does seem strange, because
when I'd first listed an item within my inventory 4 years ago, and have since
added more of that kind in the years between then and now, but to a Newbie buyer,
it will give the impression that my NEW stock is 4-6 years old, whereas it could
actually be 2 days old!

Can this feature be given the option of being updateable when new stock is actually
added to the retained listing?

Regards,

Paul

  Hi,
I do not know if this has been posted before, but here is my question:

I am parting out some nice used sets, some of which have stickered parts. As
one can find, when looking up a particular set in the catalog, these stickered
parts are listed down below under counterparts (or something like that).

Wouldn't it be helpful if these stickered counterparts also appeared in the
(parting out) list when parting out USED sets with stickered parts?

It would make parting out so much easier/quicker and you can easily check if
the stickers are applied correctly.

Like to hear your thoughts!

Tanja

I have also posted about this in the past. It would be great to have the option
of adding the stickered parts when parting out. I agree it would be easier and
much quicker.

I too have said this, but I got brushed off, by the Site's admins claiming
that due to not ALL of the sets will have the stickered counterparts added, it
is easier not to allow this to happen.

But surely, once a set HAS been verified (twice) by the set verifiers, this can
be implemented ONLY for the sets that have ALL of the stickered counterparts?

I would love to have this feature implemented, as I am always parting out used
sets, as I can't always be bothered to try and complete a set that is approx
50% complete.

Regards,

Paul

Hi all.

When anyone looks in a store, and selects a certain part, there is in small grey
letters, showing the date that particular item was added to the store's inventory,
but as I have selected the option of having the particular item(s) 'retained'
within my inventory after it has been sold out, I would like to have this feature
removed as it makes it look as if a store is not adding any recent stock, which
is not entirely accurate.

I can see your point in this, but please understand that not ALL postal services
are geared the same way as the US's

Here in the UK, we can purchase "Track and Trace" on top of the normal shipping
cost, and this often enables packages/post get delivered the next day.

The size of the UK enables this to happen, and I am aware that the size of the
US doesn't allow for that service to happen.

Am I right in understanding that the US's postal service provides "Tracking"
on postage bought on-line?

Maybe your suggestion would be amended to be that instead of 'insurance',
the Tracking service should be provided instead?

Paul

Hi Paul. Tracking is different and not affected by this suggestion. Nowadays,
almost everything in the USA has tracking. And tracking is being offered on
more international parcels too.

So, to address your concern, this suggestion will not affect your ability to
offer tracking in the UK. That is something completely different.

Thor

Right, so if Tracking is now commonplace for most of the US's packages, is
this an extra cost added to the standard shipping cost?

According to the Royal Mail's website, all of the UK's post is automatically
covered to a maximum cost of £20, and the Tracking service that we can buy will
allow it to be increased to £50 (If I am reading this right)

So, why not do-away with the 'insurance' request, and offer the Tracking
option, as I am sure that European postal services don't offer free tracking,
and that is an extra that we have to pay for.

Besides, how the heck are we in the UK, able to find a 3rd party insurer to cover
a package that might not get lost?

(I've never even thought about finding one for myself as I've used the
Royal Mail's service)

When a buyer marks the BrickLink check box requesting insurance, please require
that sellers state in their terms and a drop-down box on checkout whether they
purchase that insurance from a reputable 3rd party insurer or provide their own
"self-insurance".

Self-insurance is fine, particularly on smaller orders. But when buyers place
large orders, request and pay extra for insurance, most buyers naturally expect
that insurance to be provided by an actual 3rd party insurance company rather
than the seller. If the seller chooses to self-insure, buyers should at least
know this because it may affect their decision on whether to place an order with
such seller, the size of the order they place and whether they wish to ask the
seller to purchase third party insurance instead (at the buyer's expense).

This has nothing to do with trusting one's seller. It has to do with providing
full disclosure and assurance to buyers that there is sufficient financial backing
and uniform published procedures in place to cover their order if something goes
wrong.

Some buyers won't mind the seller self-insuring. Some buyers prefer that
insurance be provided from an independent professional outside source. Give
this information to buyers and let buyers decide what is best for them.

Paul

It is Not a level of quality. It is simply new vs. used. applying your justification
of listing a box as new because of it's quality is the same as listing like
new Used bricks as new.

Let me make it quite clear, right here and now, I have never sold any LEGO that
has been used even once as new, because this is against my ethos.

You didn't even accept the fact my suggestion would do away with the NEW
v's USED debate, as every seller of LEGO understands, there are a few levels
of 'used' when it comes to LEGO, and we all know, chewed, bitten and
yellowed LEGO is not acceptable or even fit enough to be sold as used, except
for use as 'filler' material in building up large landscapes.

My suggestion was this, REMOVE the 'new' listing, and add several levels
of 'used' for the set boxes ONLY.

That way, you will be happy, a few 'original' box sellers will be happy
as they will be able to classify what level of quality their box is in, and the
buyers will be able to judge for them selves.

Paul

I would like to suggest that the NEW classification for empty boxes be removed.
They just do not exist (maybe on an extremely rare occasion) but people still
keep listing them as new. For the people who think they are correct in listing
as new I challenge you to answer this question. What was used to contain the
particular Lego set you parted out ? Hint..... it was the box. It was USED for
a purpose.. Looking at the price guide it seems like people buy the incorrectly
listed as new more often than the honestly listed boxes. I just feel it is an
unfair advantage for those who are misleading with their new designation.

Ed

I can understand your opinion on this matter, however, I have a few boxes that
have been 'used' as you call it, but the quality of them is far superior
than a generally accepted 'used' one would be.

For example, I buy a opened, built, and displayed Atlantis set at my local car
boot sale last year, and while the set is in a good quality condition, the box
has numerous creases from being in the bottom of the pile in the shed/under the
bed/cupboard, I'd call that box as used, because it is NOT in a pristine
condition.

However, I have, in my un-sorted/unlisted/back-up stock, the same set, still
sealed, and so, when I get round to parting it out, I'd open it in a manner
that would ensure that it could be displayed without the obvious signs of being
opened, and yet, the condition of the box is the same as it was when it left
the factory 5 years ago. (still new in my opinion)

I think what you will need to do is to request that the cat admins have several
levels of box quality available when listing the 'original' box within
someone's inventory.

Maybe this will help to ensure that the correct levels of box quality are being
sold under?

It's not BRICKLINK that has been 'wrong', but it is usually LEGO
swapping parts in production for elements that are slightly different, hence
these requests that people make...

I had to do one the other day for a set that was approx 10 years old.

It's no biggie

Comments from Submitter:
Upon Checking this set as I have one on hand, I noted that this particular part was in mine, and not the 'official' BL inventory one.
I checked with BrickSet, and they have confirmed that the clip should be the thin type, however, I checked the instructions and Peeron and they show the type 1's. hence this request as for the others to be included as 'alternate'

Brickset gets its vintage/alternate inventories from Rebrickable, and it is not
clear how Rebrickable populated their inventories. Some of them, anyway, have
been copied straight from BL:

Set No: 190 Name: Farm Set
*
190-1 (Inv) Farm Set
526 Parts, 1975
Sets: Building Set with People: Farm

Peeron on the other hand, is another situation. Many of their inventories are
from excellent sources (and they actually list the source). But there is no log
with a record of changed filed directly with submitters, so in the case of this
set, it's hard to see whether the person who verified the set consciously
changed the variant to the "a" type. Also, there is evidence that some varaint
data was "cleaned up" after the fact (we do that here on BL, too) but without
a change log, it's hard to be sure what is what.

Since this set is on the edge of the line for this part (1986), I would prefer
a straight change. Another consideration is that even in 2015 some members are
having a hard time distinguishing between the types, even with an excellent large
image showing all 4 variants side by side. So confusion of this part at an earlier
date is to be expected.

Speaking of earlier dates, look at the date the inventory was approved (2003),
but 67 lots were added in 2005 (i.e. the whole inventory). Something fishy is
going on here, and it really makes one wonder what the inventory was like for
the previous 2 years. And then the change in 2006 with the Technic pins is another
issue.

Russell

Hi Russell,

I'm surprised as to that you have actually changed the clip totally when
I can see from my instructions, they are supposed to be the Type 1, and yet when
I looked on Brickset they are the Type 2, along with the ones in my set.

This is why I requested the alternate, as like you said, it was on the edge of
the line for the part (type 1).

I think the issue in regard the pins is that the original submitter probably
didn't realise that there were 2 different types...

Wasn't it changed some time ago, the ability to reserve a set for inventorying
purposes to a limit of 3 days before it was re-set?.

I'm sure I can remember several sets being reserved for approx 4 months before
being submitted?

Please make changes to the following inventory:

Set No: 8640 Name: Polar Copter
*
8640-1 (Inv) Polar Copter
238 Parts, 1 Minifigure, 1986
Sets: Technic: Arctic Technic

* Add 2 Part 4085b Light Gray Plate, Modified 1 x 1 with Clip Vertical - Type 2 (thin U clip) (Alternate)

I would like to have 'my inventory' above the 'lots for sale'

I'm sure alot of sellers would agree with me on this?

Has anyone even seen what I am asking?

stickered parts, even though they are listed in the inventory alternates in the

I asked for this at least a year ago, possibly 2 years ago, and I was told that
it would have been too much hard work to do this....

I even put forward the same argument that you have...

Good luck!

Off topic of the thread, but did you update the white van?

I did in two aspects....

I upgraded the LEGO Van to a better looking and more streamlined one, and 2 years
ago, I got made redundant from the White Van job, I retrained my self to drive
LGVs, and the firm I work for (K+N), has a contract with Whitbread, who has one
for Costa Coffee, while the 14 tonne Lorries base colour is white, the body colour
is now a Dark Red...

You could always open another window and test that you are logged in before you

Good luck,

I wonder if it has to do with me being on Satellite Internet and having pings

I don't get logged out for at least an hour, it is likely that your internet

As this game was releaed in 2006, I'm thinking the plates should be Light
Bluish Gray instead of Gray.

Russell

Hi Russell.

I can confirm that the plates are actually Light Gray...

The French version of this game has the 2x3 plates, and the owner of the only
one on BL can confirm that the set has a cardboard Castle, Board, targets, dice
and rubberbands.

Keep in mind that the bigger the seller is, then the more mistakes they make.

maybe this is because they get so many large orders due to the high volumes of
'lots' that their stores have.

Sometimes I have a mistake or two within my inventory and I am able to rectify
this by having some of my 'personal' stock available, but if their stores
are run so tightly without any lee-way what so ever, mistakes are likely to happen.

However, it is possible that due to some set's inventories being incorrect
upon being parted-out, some parts are not the correct type or even not available,
that is where some mistakes are made.

The vast majority of us are 'hobby' sellers, who only do this to off-load
the parts that are not needed, and while it is nice to get large orders now and
again, these multi-lot ones are a real bug-bear as they DO take time to fulfil
and these are usually where mistakes can occur.

I feel just as strongly about this issue, as I do with my previous suggestion.

When a member takes the decision to place another member on their stoplist, that
an option is offered during the process of stoplisting. Perhaps a check-box to
tic-off if you would like to keep the lines of communication, open.

This would be at the discretion of the member doing the stoplisting.

Maybe two levels of stoplisting; one without contact (more severe), or a less
severe level, allowing contact.

I would further suggest that the option be left open as long as the member is
on the stoplist. Allowing the stoplisting member to open-up comms, or close if
desired.

2. Set No: / Name:
3. Image of Original box (or polybag)

I would suggest adding a picture (or 2) of the contents of the set so you can
see all of the bags and loose large parts that would be included.

Should be really helpful for those who have open sets and they want to see if
all of the contents are there.

I have voted no, because this will make the catalogue more slow to load and having
to include the picture will NOT make things easier for sellers.

The set's inventory is used as a guide to determine if a used set is complete
or not, not a picture, as the picture will not be able to show ALL of the pieces
in full detail.

I'm guessing that you have several unsealed sets, and would like to determine
if the number of bags is correct?

I did try and implement a feature of where the number of bags could be included
within the listing in the catalogue, but it was turned down due to the "fact"
that the official number of bags does change when sets are packaged for each
market region.

Paul

However, my sets came from the UK's version of May issue Legends of Chima comic, which is possible that the inventory has changed.

Hi Paul,

The submitter of the inventory assured me that he did indeed have an extra mask,
and extras are just that - extras. They are not part of the regular inventory
and some sets may have them and other sets not. Extras are just that and they
may or may not be included in a set, and quantity of extras may vary from set
top set.

Hazel
Inv. Admin

Hi Hazel,

I did find it strange that this extra part was found in this set, as I have found
that of all of the Chima sets that have been on the comic, no extra parts have
been found, including the ones that I have inventoried. (which is why I included
the additional 'comment' in my original post.)

Ouch! I guess I opened myself up to criticism by making this suggestion. I believe
the relative value of my image submissions is not really relevant here. Just
trying to make things better if possible.

Thanks,
Jen

I agree with what you are saying, but my response was not intended as a criticism,
but as a pointing-out of that some images have no real need to be improved upon.

I have noted that there some images that have been taken straight from the box
image/instructions and from LDD which are not quite up to the standard that a
'proper' camera image can be, and I'm all for it to have those replaced.

Like I did mention, maybe you could focus on those parts that have no image,
and these can be found within the catalogue section.

I've done several this way myself, but I just can't get the images reduced
to be used as a small one..

I have seen some of the images that you have submitted of stickered parts, and

Maybe you could focus on the ones that have no image available, or are so blurry

I agree, as I have found that there are quite a few sets that need to be done
and yet they don't..
I found a set that it's inventory had been submitted but the submitter had
put in this style of Technic pin in instead of the other...

Part No: 4459 Name: Technic, Pin with Long Friction Ridges
*
4459 Technic, Pin with Long Friction Ridges
Parts: Technic, Pin

Part No: 2780 Name: Technic, Pin with Short Friction Ridges
*
2780 Technic, Pin with Short Friction Ridges
Parts: Technic, Pin

So, I had to drop a line to the submitter explaining what had happened and it's
been rectified. (Yay!)

Just a friendly piece of advice, the suggestions section of the Forum is for
the CATALOGUE or for IDEAS that buyers and sellers feel that would improve the
whole experience that BrickLink offers.

Your question is best aimed at the 'HELP' section of the forum's
listing of topics.

However, I have my store's inventory sorted by BrickLink's catalogue
as when an order gets placed, I can pull the parts as I scroll down the list.

(You can change the settings of how an order looks when it gets placed within
you own store)

Hope this helps,

Paul

the best examples.

I'm sorry, but this is a web site designed primarily for the sale of products

Although there are other 'custom' designed items for sale here, they
are CUSTOM designed and not products designed/made/released by a main stream
seller/company, ie Kre-o and others

So your 'suggestion' is going to be voted NO, and NO again by approx
99% of the buyers and sellers on this site.

Why not join the Mega-blok web site?

Is there anyway possible to save your "cart" so the items will remain in the
cart from computer to computer (login). Or if you have a glitch in your internet

I've lost countless hours having to search through everything I wanted again.

Not all stores have Hold Order Open options.

Thanks

There is no possible method to keep items in your cart while you are 'shopping'
within a store other than keeping several 'tabs' open and each time you
get logged out, just log back in using a different tab.

(never the one that you have your cart open within a store)

I have set up my wanted list containing the elements that I want and when I browse
a store, I then look at others, using a different tab for each store.

Hope this helps.

If a seller is unwilling to send me a quick picture, then I am unwilling to send
them money. Simple as that! There are many sellers who will take the time to
send you a picture.

-Ruth

Hang-on.....

Maybe this is the case for some sellers....

I once had a lengthy discussion/negotiation with a potential buyer over a set,
and even after supplying the pictures (my time) I didn't sell the set.

So, maybe it's that factor of time being involved with a potential sale and it
falling through puts people off from supplying their own pictures etc etc

No worries or issues with me as I rarely sell sets. (all of the used ones I have
are dismantled anyway)

A. Unused mint (No damage and unused)

the same damage.
C. Used Near mint (Used but no damage)
D. Used Damaged, seller is required to add description of damage in item description
and can only be combined with items described with the same damage. Additional
idea the seller also has to provide a non-stock picture of time?

I'm sorry, but I'm guesing that you have had a few elements that were sold to
you as new, but, in your opinion were used.

However, please bear in mind that this possible scenario can happen, and I'm
not saying that it will with all of the major sellers.

Over time, parting out sets will build up one's stock, and there are cases of
where even I have seen the quality differences between a set's elements from
5 years ago and today.

My example is this:-

A seller has parted out 10 identical sets that contains 4 1x1 Blue Bricks upon
his start up of his store on BrickLink.
The seller parts out more different sets over the years and occasionally, 1x1
Bricks in blue are added to the stock, but don't get sold.
6 years go by and NONE of those 1x1's have sold because no-one wants them...
Seller reduces the price, and boom, they get sold.
Because of HOW these 1x1's were stored, the orignal ones have signs of 'use'
even though they are classed as new because they didn't get used.
Buyer complains that the 1x1's have small 'micro-scratches' even though they
got taken from MISB sets
Seller responds by say that they are NEW...
Buyer retorts saying that they are not becuase of the scratches...
Negatives get placed etc etc

Now, I use my storage system like how BrickLink's parts catalogue is set up...

I use multi drawer cabinets and each drawer is allocated a certain element(s)

I snap together all of my USED Lego as it is easier to count that way as I can't
part out 2x4 plates as well as 2x4 Bricks, and obviously small parts like Technic
pins are bagged.

All of my NEW is kept separate, again in drawers, lined with paper to stop surface
rubbing, again with certain elements in per drawer.

It is inevitable that some elements WILL get rub marks and this is ACCEPTED by
the mainstream BL community

Even BL states that elements taken from a MISB set may have rub marks and the
parts are still classed as new.

Hope you can understand what I have said.

I just did a little investigating on how much sellers AND Bricklink are loosing
from one buyer - ME!!

(due to all the crazy T's & C's and hidden charges)

These figures are approx: -

In the past 6 months I have spent close to £900 (± $1500) on parts, sets is a
whole lot more.

I buy very few sets on BL - because I am not buying discontinued sets, only snagging
bargains for parts "elsewhere".

So parts of that £900 approx £100 was spent here, buying from other sellers,
the other £800 + went to TLG direct.

Which means that's £800 in lost sales to B/L and about £32 in "commission" B/L
would have received.

One seller lost a £70 order (and we "fell out") because I baulked at being ripped
off

I used to buy all my parts here, but little by little I got tired of all the
BS charges, even if TLG are more at least I know exactly what I will pay!

Just a small fish granted, maybe (rogue) sellers don't care as there are plenty
of fish in the sea?

When it comes to selling, parts should be priced correctly to include all the
costs of selling, those "rogues" with all their extra's are skewing the sales
average by I would say at least 5%, likely more - which means that honest sellers
are loosing.

I don't see any way the costs per order should exceed an average of 50¢

I do and could go on - apologies - graham

Hi Graham....

You are quite right to be able to show where and who you wish to do so, but as
a part-time seller myself, I agree with you when it comes to the 'lot fees'..

I've recently received an order, consisting of 3,000+ parts in 50+ lots, and
I am happy to take that kind of order as it DOES clear-out elements that are
taking up space and I can now re-stock the drawers that those elements were in,
making it a win-win situation for me.

I do sympathize with those sellers that get clobbered with high 'lot' orders,
as I have organized my store like the BL catalogue, (new one one side of the
room and used on the other), it DOES take time to pull a drawer, search for the
element that you need, and that could be for only 1 of those parts, and so multiply
that by 100-200, and you can see the time mounting up...

I had one order like that once, and it took me nearly 5 hours to do, and I couldn't
do anything else that night as I was just shattered from the constant checking/searching
and bending over to get the drawers..

I can see why those 'lot-fees' get implemented, but they shouldn't be that HIGH...

Just do as I do, walk away from those stores that have that kind of thing going
on, and buy sets where you can take the elements you need from and sell the rest...

Regards,

Paul

Why do you use 3rd party upload data streams?

I've always used the BL one, and I have found it easy to use.

Paul

I may part-out 2-5 different sets at once and I populate the remarks fields with
drawer ID's to know where everything is physically located in my inventory.
With Bricklink, I have to manually type "P11" for every round 1x1 plate. With
brickstore I can consolidtae lots from all the sets at once, select all the round
1x1 plates and apply "P11" to all of them at once, regardless of color.
Also, once I part out one set that way and later on par out another it's a simple
re-upload of the file and I can skip the other steps AND I can save the remark-field
data to actually put the parts where they go before uploading it and not fear
the Bricklink page refreshing and I lose ALL of that work.
-Ash

I see, you use your own stock listings and not the BL catalogue one...

I have my store's inventory laid out just like the BL one, in alphabetical (ish)
order, with the larger selections broken down further to either colour or type.

I part-out a great variety of sets and so get alot of 'different' parts as my
store's inventory will show...

However, back to my suggestion, wouldn't it be a help if BL2 were able to inform
sellers that an inventory change had taken place?

Obviously it wouldn't help you in that regard, but I'm sure there are other sellers
that don't use 3rd party uploaders

Paul

You know how it is where a new set gets added to the BL catalogue, with (at the
time) correct inventory, and as some get parted-out, there are several discrepancies
within the inventory and so an inventory change gets submitted?

Well, I have found that if some people part-out a set prior to the inventory
change, they wouldn't know about the differences in the parts/quantity unless
they checked 100% accurately.

Would it not be possible for the BL system send a message to the persons who
had parted-out that set PRIOR to the inventory change request and inform them
of the different items?

(Obviously this would have to be within a time frame of say, 6 months of the
set being first released)

I'm pretty sure that this is the reason for SOME of the inventory differences
in seller's stores.

The most recent issue I found was that the inventory for this

Set No: 30210 Name: Frodo with Cooking Corner polybag
*
30210-1 (Inv) Frodo with Cooking Corner polybag
29 Parts, 1 Minifigure, 2012
Sets: The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings: The Lord of the Rings

The original inventory stated that the round 1x1 plate was Black.

The 14 sets that I parted-out has Reddish Brown, with the instructions showing
it to be Reddish Brown.

So, if I hadn't checked as I was sorting the parts, I'd have been out of 14 black
1x1 round plates.

Also, there was, in 2 of the sets, the newer version of the Jumper plates (with
the bottom grove)

Could this feature be implemented in the BL2?

bump for evening crowd

I've liked this idea before if the site would send out a notice of inventory
change to sellers that parted-out a set in question, but it could only work if
sellers used Bricklink's part-out mechanism. I and other sellers use 3rd-party
and manual XML uploads to part-out sets and Bricklink couldn't monitor what raw
date coming in means.

  Well I object to that
Some people list their sets without figs. So NO figs...
If not all figs are present: NO checkbox, and seller can indicate in his desription
the ones that are present (or missing).
The main idea is to have a clear overview (and if not all figs are present, it
is not cpmplete anyway). Some sets have 10-12 minifigs, you can't expect a checkbox
for all of them...
In your case, nothing would have prevented to list the set without minifigs (why
not sell them seperatly then) or simply stated in the description. Or you could
have bought the missing fig

I was intending to buy the missing 'fig, but the buyer told me that he was not
fussed if it was missing or not as he just wanted the be able to build the set!

Any way, I'm not fussed if you object , but you are right as to that some sets
have a high number of 'figs and I was thinking that it would be awkward to have
check boxes for that many...

Regardless, your idea does have merit, and I hope that BL2 does have soemthing
like this in place...

Agreed, but the future Bricklink shoud have some checkboxes to indicate subconditions

Complete set of bricks Y/N
All Minifigs Y/N
All stickers Y/N
Buildinginstruction Y/N
Box Y/N

These questions should be answered while listing and the system should classify
automaticly with indications in the priceguide:

C M S BI BOX

Y Y Y N N -- would be complete
or
N Y Y Y N -- would be incomplete
or
Y Y N Y Y -- would be incomplete

offcourse with little color indications to make it easy.

This would help to chose when buying used sets
And the priceguide would reflect the presence of all subconditions so that sellers
can have a better guideline.

But NO to current suggestion (sorry OP)

Eric

I do like Eric's suggestion in regards the check boxes for the set listings.

There has been many a time that I have searched for a set, and have had to wade
through the incomplete listings to find those that have the instructions and
set parts without the minifigs, because the minifigs are not needed by me as
I only want the parts because the set is cheaper that way.

So, little check boxes for the sellers is a GREAT guide for those who are selling
sets that have parts missing.

However, in regards to the minifigs being included, well, I sold a Market Street
set, which had no instructions, and 1 minifig missing (out of 3), which means
that the check box for that will be of no use.

Could BrickLink 2 have check boxes for the set's individual minifigs?

That way, we could then see if 'that all important minifig' was missing or not...

Older sets with the perforated, non-labeled bags are not universally consistent
in number and contents. They vary by region. European sets tend to have more
bags and less pieces per bag whereas US versions have less bags with more pieces
per bag.

Maybe we can have a 'Starting point', say perhaps, sets from the year 2000 or
maybe even earlier than this, IF it can be confirmed that the original set has
that particular number of bags.

I meant to say that there is no 'browsing' section for the instructions like

When I'm listing parts, I use the browse section to take me to the parts, in
which I then input the part number and it will take me to the part(s), or, if
I know what the part is, I just click upon the correct category.
This is the kind of thing I'd like to see for the instructions...
After all, to me the 'sell' tab isn't as quite informative at the 'browse' section
as there are times when I find a piece/part and I am not sure as to where it
goes and the browse section helps...
Do you understand me now?

Hi all,

I'm making this suggestion in regards being able to look for instructions from
the catologue tab from the top bar.

As it is at the moment, there are 6 sub-headings, all for the various items in
the catologue, and yet there is none for the INSTRUCTIONS...

The ONLY way to input instructions into a store's inventory is to look up the
set, and then look for the instuctions entry when I have clicked upon a few steps
and buttons etc etc.

Why not add a sub-heading for the instructions ONLY?

I think this would make things alot quicker and easier.

This is in response to a question that I'd asked in the Forum about coupons..

I would like to have the ability to limit/edit my coupons to the USED/NEW range
of goods that I sell in my store.

Maybe something like a tick box, for USED or NEW Parts/sets/instructions etc

I'm sure that alot of people would like to have offers ONLY on USED parts rather
than NEW as the NEW stock will have been bought at cost and the USED from alternative
sources (like Ebay Craigs list etc etc).

So PLEASE implement theis change as I'm sure it will be very useful for those
sellers that need to shift certain items...

Hi all,

I know how the parting out system works for NEW sets, with all the parts including
the extras, but surely the parting-out system can be tweaked to allow USED sets
that have the stickers applied?

I do find it time consuming, parting out used sets, to find that I have to tick
all the boxes that have parts that have a sticker applied AND then have to input
them individually afterwards...

(Unless there is a feature that is already there...)

Paul

What exactly are you suggesting here? I do understand what you are saying, and
what the problem seems to be, but I don't see a solution / suggestion being offered?

"Packed" status comes after "Paid", so it is only logical that if you follow
the intended progression that an invoice would already have been sent.

A solution would be to have BrickLink track whether an invoice has been sent
by using a flag that is only changed when you actually send the invoice, regardless
of the current status of the order. This would allow you to use the status out
of order, but would not effect the invoiced status of others who do not (I would
be annoyed if orders that I marked packed suddenly showed up on my to be invoiced
list as I use the status as intended).

Troy

That's why I said 'maybe this needs to be tweeked a LITTLE'....

So, maybe you are right in this, as that the system needs to track whether the
invoice has been sent or not, and will allow you to change the status as to 'packed'
AFTER the invoice has been sent...

Yes, you mean when you mark an order packed it goes straight to the "orders not
yet shipped" list, regardless of whether or not it's invoiced.

YES! that's right!

I feel that's a little annoying, because if I were to do that and then go back
to my
'my bricklink', it will show that I only have say 2 orders to invoice, and if
I click on that the other one's not showing....

Hi,

I have noticed that when I click on the drop down list for the order status,
in order to change the status to 'packed', the order is deemed to be 'invoiced'
wether I have actually invoiced or not...

Maybe this needs to be tweeked a little because I had done that twice now and
not invoiced the customer until a few days later!

(I like to pack the orders before invoicing so I can determine WHAT size package
I should use in order to keep the customer's postage cost down..)

I hope this made sense?

"NOTE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE AND AMERICANS: One shilling = Five Pee. It helps to understand
the antique finances of the Witchfinder Army if you know the original British
monetary system:

Two farthings = One Ha'penny. Two ha'pennies = One Penny. Three pennies = A Thrupenny
Bit. Two Thrupences = A Sixpence. Two Sixpences = One Shilling, or Bob. Two Bob
= A Florin. One Florin and one Sixpence = Half a Crown. Four Half Crowns = Ten
Bob Note. Two Ten Bob Notes = One Pound (or 240 pennies). One Pound and One Shilling
= One Guinea.

The British resisted decimalized currency for a long time because they thought
it was too complicated."

Thanks for posting this because I was born in 1970, and I do remember seeing
things like a very large bag of sweets for 10p!
and, as time went on, when I reached my pre-teens, I left LEGO behind as my family
couldn't afford to buy it, I went into Model kits, and I recall buying a Matchbox
Sherman Firefly for 86p!...
Of course, I wish I had kept all those kits unmade in their original boxes...
sigh!

  Hi all,

BUMP

I've posted before with similar problems pertaining to this but at this point
it's driving me crazy.

The main issue is when I add/increase an item that is already in my inventory.
When I get to the INVENTORY VERIFY page, it asks if I want to add to existing
inventory or list item as a new lot. When adding to existing inventory, those
items are not put in the notify queue. If I want notifications sent I must list
them as a new lot which more often than not I don't want to do.

I also add to my inventory directly from the INVENTORY DETAIL page. Again notifications
cannot be sent out.

A lot of people specify a certain quantity of an item when they put it on their
wanted lists (myself included). Let's say the initial listing is less than a
buyer requires - they are not notified. If, however I add more of an item and
it is now in a quantity that the member wants there is no mechanism to notify
them.

Just the other day I was checking an item that has been on my wanted list for
quite some time. OMG - the fairly large quantity I was looking for had appeared!
Even though I opted for e-mail notification, I received none. The problem -
the seller did not chose to notify. Sadly, someone had purchased all the items.
Oh well, I guess surfing is the only sure way to see if my wants are available.

I propose there be an option to notify (or place it in the queue) on both the
Inventory Verify and Inventory Detail pages and let the seller designate them
as default settings if they so desire. Many have argued that they get "too many
annoying e-mails". The buyer, not the seller has control of this simply by un-checking
the "notify me by e-mail" option when making their wanted lists.

OK - enough verbosity (pause, heavy sigh, end of rant).

Hi Lainee,

If I am right, because I have noticed the same thing, however, IF I were to put
the item being updated, into my Stock room, and then take it out, it gets notified?...
