Items with prices far outside the norm are a common topic here in the forums.
These are commonly caused by mistakes, and to help sellers when they make these
mistakes, I would like to suggest that the system automatically notify them of
the possibility of such errors.

This should work for prices both above and below the "norm". How to determine
the "norm" I would leave up to BrickLink, but I will suggest that it significantly
outside of the norm to trigger a notice.

I bring this up here, becaue I just received such a notice for a listing I did
on Amazon. I will include the notice below. This notice allowed me to avoid
having an item sit unsold forever because I priced a $19.99 item at $99.99.

You will see that the notice does not say that I can not list for this price,
just that it is outside the norm and that I should look at it. Options for correcting
the issue are to reprice the item OR tell them that the price is correct as it
is.

Troy

Dear Seller,

We are contacting you because we have detected potential pricing errors in your
Amazon.com product listings. To avoid a potentially negative customer experience
caused by mispriced items, we have deactivated these listings.

These deactivated listings are marked in Manage Inventory with a Status of "Inactive
(Pricing Error)".

To reactivate your listings, click on “Fix Price Alerts” and then on “Potential
Pricing Error” on the left menu to:

- update your offer price, or
- confirm your offer price by setting “Your minimum price” and “Your maximum
price” in the specified columns so that your offer price is within the minimum
and maximum price range. We will alert you in the future if your price falls
outside your price range. If you do not use the minimum and maximum price settings,
our systems will continue to use internal data to help detect potential pricing
errors.

If you have a Professional selling account, you can also use the Inventory Loader
file or the Price & Quantity file to update your prices as well as your minimum
and maximum prices. For more information, search in Seller Central Help for the
terms "Unblocking Your Listings", "Inventory Loader", and "Price and Quantity".

If you have questions or need assistance, log in to your Seller Central account
and click the "Contact Seller Support" link at the bottom of the page. For feedback
about this pricing error program, please send an e-mail to listing-error-feedback@amazon.com.

Thank you for selling on Amazon,

Your Amazon Services Team

Please provide the ability to HIDE specific forum threads. By this, I mean that
if I HIDE a specific thread, I will no longer see ANY posts in the thread or
ANY future replies to any of the posts in the thread.

Some threads can go off the rails, and they crowd out the other more relevant
posts. Once a thread has gone off the rails, I have no desire to read or see
it anymore. The participants are free to keep at it, but I would prefer not
to have to watch.

Today I had a customer at my retail store ask me to source parts for a project
he designed in Lego Digital Designer. There are 3,742 pieces in 209 lots. I
am obviously not going to create a wanted list for this manually.

I figured i'd just import the parts list into BL and go from there, thinking
surely BL is setup to handle such things.

NOPE!

The only format BL is setup to import is BL XML files. The only formats that
LDD exports as are LXF and XLS. I am sure that there is some magic that can
be worked involving BrickStock, but I shouldn't need a third party program
to get this to work.

With people designing all sorts of things in LDD and LDRAW, BL should be able
to import these formats directly so that those people can source their parts
here. Why this wasn't a priority over the MOC Shop is beyond me. People
are going to be more willing o buy their own designs over someone elses.

So, my suggestion is that BL be able to import, at a minimum:

LEGO Digital Designer files
LDRAW files
Excel Spreadsheet parts lists.

For further incentive: This already works at BrickOwl. I was able to import
the LDD file directly, and BO provided me with an estimate of the cost. This
is all that was needed at this point, but I was able to go further and search
stores for the parts.

Would much prefer to buy here, but if my customer decides to proceed with the
project itlooks like i will be shopping at BO.

Please make the necessary improvements to the search functionality to allow for
matching based on generic terms / attributes.

The situation that I have is that someone asked me a question about a particular
Friends polybag set, but did not provide the set number. So I did a search for
"Friends Polybag":

http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?q=friends%20polybag

As you can see, this returned ZERO hits even though there are a ton of different
Friends Polybag sets.

Meanwhile, the exact same search at BrickOwl, returned 26 different friends polybag
sets. Including the one I was looking for. (Link not provided due to forum
rules)

The same search on Amazon returned 3 results, including the one I was looking
for. Adding the word "lego" to the search terms (since amazon is not LEGO specific)
improved the results to 10 polybag sets. (Link not provided due to forum rules)

The same search on eBay returned 237 results, again including the one I was looking
for. (Link not provided due to forum rules)

We might as well just be sending people to these sites, because that is exactly
what is going to happen if they do a search here and do not find what they are
looking for. They are going to go elsewhere and end up buying there because
the search works.

The problem seems to be that BrickLink is using a straight keyword search. So
if "Friends" isn't in the name of the set, and "Polybag" isn't in the
name of the set, it isn't going to find anything.

I propose that the BL search also search through all the attributes of items
as well. Some attributes, such as category, BrickLink already has in the database.
Some attributes, such as "polybag", may need to be added.

Thanks,

Troy

Please remove the ability to set prices with 3 digits after the decimal point
for items priced over 10 cents.

3 digit pricing was implemented to allow for price differentiation of ultra-cheap
parts, some of which actually sell for half of a cent.

Above the 10 cent point 3 digit pricing becomes less meaningful, devolving in
to sellers splitting hairs to move their listings up in the sort order. There
is no effective difference between $29.989 and $29.99 and they really should
sort together.

Please add an entry for Telephone Number to the info members enter when supplying
their address. This information should NOT be mandatory, but optional for those
that wish to supply it.

There are a number of instances where a phone number is necessary and / or beneficial.
The USPS requires a phone number for international orders to a PO Box. Parcel
services such as FedEx and UPS also request phone numbers for recipients.

Many members also wish to supply their phone number, but this is usually accomplished
by including it as part of their address or by sending it in a separate e-mail.
This can be confusing and the number can get lost in the shuffle.

Again, this would be optional. I don't wish to force anyone to divulge information
that they do not wish to. But some people want to provide the info, and some
people need it, so it would be nice for there to be a place for it.

As a bonus, I would like to have different settings for buying and selling.
As in one number for orders I place and one number for orders I receive.
