Part out a Set into My Inventory

Buying sets in large quantities and then selling the parts from those sets is very popular by many BrickLink sellers. This work is called parting out a set. Set inventories which contain info on what minifigs and parts a set consists of allow a seller to enter a set number and the quantity of the sets they have on the Part out a Set into My Inventory screen and is given an editable list of parts which that set contains ready to be uploaded into the seller's inventory.
How it Works:
The following is an explanation on all the options available in this function:

Enter the set number along with other optional information and click the submit button. You will be taken to an edit screen showing all parts and minifigs in that set. All items can be edited or removed from this upload. After you have edited all items in that upload, click on the submit button and your items will be taken into a verification screen ready to be uploaded into your inventory.

  • Set Number - Enter the set number. It is always (with few exceptions) written somewhere on the box and on the instructions manual.

  • Quantity - Enter the number of sets which you are parting out. The edit screen will prefill the quantity box for each item in that set with information on how many of that part is in that set from the catalog set inventory. Entering quantity higher than 1 will multiply the quantities of items by that number.

  • Whole Minifigs or Minifig Parts - Selecting whole minifigs will give you all parts in that set and whole minifigs. Selecting minifig parts will pull information of what parts make up the minifigs in that set and add those parts to the parts which are in that set. In case there is no information available on what parts a minifig in that set is made out of, that minifig entry will stay as a whole and you can delete it from that upload if you choose to.

  • Break Sets in Set - Selecting this option will give you all the parts and minifigs in all the sets that the set contains (if any). Unselecting this option will give you the sets themselves that the set contains.

  • Price Guide - Select one of the price guide options which will pre-fill the price box for that item with an average price from the price guide, past 6 months sales or the current items for sale depending on the condition you selected. If pricing information is not available, the price box for that item will be empty.
How to Undo/Reverse a Part Out:
If you part out a wrong set into your inventory or wanted list and wish to undo, you can part out a negative quantity (of the quantity of a set you parted out) of a set into your inventory. This will remove the items in that set from your inventory or decrease quantities of items from that set in your inventory if the items were consolidated into existing items in your inventory in the original part-out.
Note:
Please be aware that the information which parts in which colors and which minifigs a certain set consists of must be entered into the catalog database before it can be used by the seller in this functionality. Inventorying sets and minifigs is a community effort to which you can also contribute. For more information on that, please visit the Inventories page.
