| Does Bricklink have an official standard for the different set conditions? The
meaning of sealed is obvious, but the rest aren’t as clear to me. When does something
stop being an open new set and become a used set? Does an incomplete used set
become a complete one if all of the missing pieces are replaced with identical
ones? Most of my collection is divided by piece type rather than the original
sets. I’d prefer not to have to sell them all piece by piece if I’m not required
to.

I'd say it becomes used when you open the bags. Yes, that would be considered
complete.

If a set becomes used when you open the bags then everyone who buys sets to part
out will have to list those parts as used...
Sets only become used when they have been build (even partially)

What should it get listed as if the bags are numbered and some are open and others
are sealed?
If a partially complete model was found in a box for a set, what would that make
the condition?
These are edge cases, how does one decide what it should be listed as?
Cheers ...

Used if it’s used new if it’s new

Used, unless you are 100% absolutely sure the parts have not been used (such
as removing the minifigures and leaving the parts). You can make a note in the
comments section of the listing that there are still some bags that are sealed.
Most likely you can list for a higher price since a percentage of parts are new.

Still used. Complete if all parts are there, but if you are unsure, list as
incomplete and say so in comments.

| Bricklink does have standard definitions of condition for new and used sets.
You should become familiar with the Bricklink terms and definitions prior to
opening a store.
Here is a quote:
Sets:
In addition to condition (New/Used), sets also have a sub-condition to indicate
whether the set is complete or incomplete.
New Sets
(without sub-condition) are assumed to be Sealed unless otherwise stated in the
description.
Sealed - Set is brand new, with unopened factory seals intact, all inner bags
and contents presumably sealed, intact, complete and untampered with as shipped
by the manufacturer. Seller cannot guarantee that a sealed set is complete.
Complete - Contents are brand new and may have been removed from their plastic
bags and handled for inventorying purposes only. Includes all contents that originally
came with set including extra parts, stickers, instructions (if any) and original
box/packaging.
Incomplete - Contents are brand new and may have been removed from their plastic
bags and handled for inventorying purposes or during the removal of items from
the set. Set is missing some contents, instructions or original box/packaging.
Description should state what exactly is missing.
Used Sets - The set has been opened, inner bags are no longer intact and or was
previously built. If the parts do show excessive wear, discoloration, excessive
scratches, other marks, etc. this should be noted, as well.
(without sub-condition) should indicate in the description if any contents are
missing.
Complete - Set contains all parts necessary to build all of the models (including
alternate models) in the instructions but does not have to contain the original
box/packaging and/or extra parts. If the set is missing instructions, the description
must state so. If the set did not come with instructions then the set should
include all parts listed in the picture inventory which is located on the box
or bucket. The set must include all original stickers used on the model either
still on the sticker sheet or applied.
Incomplete - Set is missing some contents. Description should state what exactly
is missing.
