I guess MOC is the best location for this post. I'm working on a little
contraption that will rapidly count 1x1 Round Tiles and Plates by sets of 50
or 100 (just for proof of concept).

The Process in order:

1: There will be a hopper at the top to dump the pieces in and they'll funnel
through a series of slopes to align them in order slide in to 5-10x, 1x10x1/3
channels.

2: The hopper can then be removed.

3: I want to be able to open the top plate(s) in order to verify all of the channels
are full of tiles/plates for the intended total of 50/100.

4: They're then be dumped in to a another funnel that puts them in a bag.

So, at step 3, I need the top plate to open on the short side because it will
need 1x2/4/6/8/10 plates on the bottom side to help limit the size of plates
or tiles to slip in to the channel. So it can't open on the long side due
to the arcs.

In everyone's collective experiences, what hinges will be the most reliable
without using Kragle?

These:

Part No: 3149c01  Name: Hinge Plate 2 x 4
*
3149c01 (Inv) Hinge Plate 2 x 4
Parts: Hinge {Light Gray}

Or these paired together:

Part No: 3937 Name: Hinge Brick 1 x 2 Base
*
3937 Hinge Brick 1 x 2 Base
Parts: Hinge {Red}

Part No: 6134 Name: Hinge Brick 2 x 2 Top Plate
*
6134 Hinge Brick 2 x 2 Top Plate
Parts: Hinge {Light Bluish Gray}

Or is there another one/combo I'm overlooking. The top plate/door will close
on to the bottom plate/channels which will be topped with plates to avoid mating
together.

  Do you have a diagram/drawing/build of some sort to make it easier to visualize?

Yea, I figured it would be hard to follow. Right now I'm playing with my
own parts to visualize it myself. Will try to tinker in the studio (I've
never used it), or build it up a little more and take photos.

Watch this space.

I suggest you watch this video on YouTube, it might be a lot simpler than you
think to make what you want:

Hope that helps!
