I wanted a Lego color chart that would not only be a reference to identify colors,
but would also allow me to experiment with colors, so I created this. I have
submitted it on Lego Ideas in the hope that we could have this made of real bricks,
which would allow us to use the four 1x1 bricks (plus two 1x2 tiles on top of
the 1x1 bricks for transparent colors) to try out color patterns or to hold a
card against a MOC we are building to see which color would look best for a certain
part. I would really appreciate it if you could support it and leave a comment
on Lego Ideas or share it with other people: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/f44b1d7a-efa5-422d-ae0b-d8ac6e313082

It's much cheaper to buy a sharpie and write on existing bricks.

If you already have all the bricks, then yes. But when you don't, collecting
all the bricks you need can be pretty expensive. I'm currently trying to
design a modified version of it (using alternate parts for colors that don't
exist as 1x1 bricks) so I can build it for myself, but looks like some bricks
are pretty expensive. Plus you need to be already pretty familiar with the names
of all the colors to be sure you don't accidentally mix them up. I would
definitely like to be able to just buy a set ready to use.

Especially expensive when you’re using discontinued colours like:
— Maersk Blue,
— Sky Blue,
— Light Blue,
— Light Turquoise.

And that’s just for the blues but it’s about the same for the other colours:
11 “cards,” 10 colours per card = 110 colours.  IINM, there’s around 70 active
brick colours.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to be selective when building my chart and drop colors
that are too expensive unless I really plan to use them in a build.

Probably still cheaper to bricklink one than paying lego RRPs for so many printed
parts. Even stickered, although that would look terrible and not colour match
well.

Since I don't work for Lego, I don't have the necessary information to
know whether or not my design could be produced at a reasonable cost. My main
goal is to get this to 10000 supporters to show Lego that there is interest for
a Lego color chart and hopefully have them consider making one. If this design
doesn't work, maybe Lego can find an alternate design that would work. I
want to at least try and see if something can be done.
