I have an electric motor, 4x4x4 transclear on a Bluish grey base, on bottom is
printed "C2002" and "the lego group" and a stamped item number 4036. When I search
in Bricklink catalogue it uses that item number in reference to a train glass
window??? I'm wanting to know what sets this item shows up in. Any help is
much appreciated. Thanks

4036 is not the item number but a code which indicates the production date. 40
= week, 6 = year (2006 in this case).

There are production times on some large animals and other large parts, like
motors and sensors for Mindstorms, etc.

Notice the last sentence:

"If you look carefully, you’ll find them on the plastic bags that contain bricks,
the Collectible Minifigures bags, brick buckets, and even on LEGO bricks!"

I guess the company itself doesn't have any wisdom.
