About Me Pages: About bldg_toy_artist (205)
Hi! I'm a woman of many hats: Urban archeologist, writer, artist, and collectibles appraiser. My interest in Legos began when I received my first set in the 1960s. I still have that set, minus the original box. So in 2006, the engineer in me and my overactive imagination sent me to ebay to start buying Legos and other building toys. With my always increasing collection, I started building my projects.

I prefer freestyle in the Lego world. I never follow directions with other building toys either. Here are a few photos from my past projects:

My first practice project. The building is an aircraft assembly building on an aircraft carrier drydock.

My second practice project, a capital building in a downtown city project. At the time my Lego collection was limited. When I do version 2.0, I will use the same color bricks. If it looks odd, that's because I recycle materials for my projects.

My third practice project. I built a lumber yard using all my building toys. The Legos were used for the guard house.

I use old building toys in my projects including Lego, Erector Set, Tinker Toys, blocks, and Lincoln Logs. I also hoard everything. For instance, in the downtown city project, the reflecting pool is part of an old turntable and the "tables" are lid holders from pizza delivery boxes. Now that I've been able to purchase bricks, my projects will look more real, as I will use all the same color bricks.

And last but not least, me! (Pay no attention to the woman behind the curtain!" said the booming voice from the Wizard of Oz...lol)
